35th, I cringe at the very mention of those names😵💫 SB I have never connected Trump with Hitler in any way. They have nothing in common. I dislike both of the current candidates, one more than the other, but I believe both are unfit. And I am concerned with how they can get through four years. I also dislike Tapper and Hannity. Tort, keep your eyes open.. you still may see the light.💡😉 More on the SS "The Secret Service lost some of its former respect after a string of fence-jumping incidents, other security lapses, and discipline issues came to light during the Obama administration. At the beginning of the Trump administration, a senior special agent in the Secret Service came under fire for suggesting in a Facebook post that she wouldn't "take a bullet" for Trump. Kerry O'Grady, the former agent in question, was placed on administrative leave but was allowed to retire with full benefits and her security clearance intact. Others fired from the agency over discipline issues have lost their security clearances and at least part of their retirement benefits, spurring resentment among some in the Secret Service community. The agency, more recently, has come under scrutiny for its diversity, equity, and inclusion policies after the female agent's apparent mental breakdown at Joint Base Andrews. An agency spokesman called the issue a "medical incident," but other members of the Secret Service launched a petition over the agency's DEI hiring and vetting policies during the Biden administration, as first reported by RCP. Cheatle, in 2021, signed onto a new initiative to increase the number of women in the Secret Service workforce. The agency is one of numerous federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies that have signed onto the 30x30 initiative, an effort to increase the representation of women in all ranks of policing across the country to 30% of the workforce by 2030." " MSNBC pulled its flagship AM program "Morning Joe" from airing on Monday in the wake of the assassination attempt on former President Trump. Viewers who tuned in expecting to see the staunchly anti-Trump program, hosted by Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, were greeted instead by continued NBC News special reporting on the attempt on Trump's life on Saturday. A spokesperson said "Morning Joe" will resume airing on Tuesday. According to a CNN report, a person familiar with the decision said it was made in part over fear that one of the show's many guests over a 4-hour broadcast "might make an inappropriate comment on live television that could be used to assail the program and network as a whole."" Congress is too dysfunctional to investigate anything. Their moral authority is also at a low ebb. My bi-partisan opinion. I think Cheatle has got to go after this. Yes, but Walter was not seen that way by most people, he was like a member of the family to many. I named him mostly out of nostalgia. His experiences in Vietnam shaped his changing opinion there as he reported what he saw. At first he had followed the government line. But the Tet Offensive began to change him.He also respected the Fairness Doctrine, later pulled during the Reagan era. But it was really mostly the far right who were critical, probably with some justification. Nixon used Agnew to go after the press, Roger Ailes got the idea for what became Fox News around that time. But it all seems tame compared to today. Hollywood actors are attention seekers and say terrible self righteous things in many cases. Except for DeNiro, I don't like the work of any of those people cited either and their remarks are not rational. |

Some general comments as someone who has been to an executive protection school as local law enforcement: The plain clothes USSS contingents assigned to a principal are not large when you consider that they have to cover 24/7/365. Federal agents of all stripes and from all locations are pulled in to work protection details. I was teamed up with a USSS field agent from 300 miles away who was pulled in for a POTUS detail. It could just as easily been an FBI agent from 300 miles away in the opposite direction. That's why I don't believe anyone was pulled off Trump's detail for Biden's. They would have pulled a fed from somewhere else. It happens all of the time during campaign season.
The USSS could not do it's job without local law enforcment. They simply do not have the staffing to do everything that needs to be done. Having worked protection details for various senators, governors, two sitting presidents, as well as multiple dignitaries and people of celebrity status, what is more surprising is that things almost always go off without a hitch. |

Some new: "Sheriff says building used by shooter "wasn't our responsibility" A Pennsylvania sheriff said his agency wasn't responsible for protecting or securing the building that the shooter used to attack Saturday's rally. CBS Pittsburgh station KDKA-TV reporter Andy Sheehan asked Butler County Sheriff Michael Slupe if there was enough communication from the Secret Service about securing the building. "I can't speak to that because, you know, as far as the building goes, I don't know because it wasn't our responsibility, but they did have a very good briefing," Slupe told KDKA-TV. "And, like I said earlier, somewhere along the line, you have a briefing and you identify, adapt and overcome. And there are a lot of well-trained police officers that totally have the ability to do that." Asked if there was a plan to secure the building, Slupe said, "I have no idea about that. I have no idea. I don't." Slupe also said his agency wasn't asked to sweep the building. "No, the sheriff's office was not asked to do that, and I don't know whose responsibility that would have been if that was in their plan," he said." Ok they spotted him 30 minutes before shooting and was reported twice. One said on the roof, but no gun. Ok 30 minutes and nothing is done? No Rifle? How did he get it then, once on the roof? Also another story says no ladder. How did he get up there? If there was a ladder, was he hauling it around? Was it already up there? Either way, no one does anything??? Also at least 44 people spot him up there, yelling and telling the police. Nothing? What a shock – but a good demonstration of the kind of shamelessness we've all gotten used to in public life over the last thirty years. The frank corruption and naked self-interest of most politicians is one reason people show so little shock at Trump's coarser tendencies. The truly remarkable thing about it is his reaction- and the way it was captured in photographic media. I've always been skeptical of Trump as a personality, but a lot of people who were mildly hostile or indifferent to him seem to have been genuinely struck by the fact that he came up fighting. I can't tell you how many people (not usually veterans themselves) I've heard sneer at Trump as "bone spurs," but you have to give the guy his due: his reaction did not betray cowardice. One other thing that does do is put another crack in the increasingly hard-to-sustain image of him that his opponents have been at some pains to construct in recent years. As you can tell from some of our resident Trump-haters, this generates some cognitive dissonance: the picture we typically get of the man in the media is sharply at odds with what everyone just saw. The more people who have a favorable reaction, the more possible it becomes to imagine one- and you have to wonder whether this is the kind of event that could precipitate a preference cascade. I'm curious to see whether the narrative that started to crack up in the debates continues to fragment, or whether his opponents succeed in plastering over the cracks and sustaining it. |

This gets worse and worse, 35th. Trumps protection is as a candidate and an ex president. Especially these days, it should be competent and reliable, along the lines of 79th's experience. The sheriff interview you gave us indicated that planning and coordination were cursory at best. And then, repeatedly seeing this guy, "calling it in" or not, nobody took responsibility for actually going after him. And now we have a stream of anti-Democratic party and Biden conspiracy theories on social media ramping up tension even more, and the possibility of another unstable individual, or several, seeking revenge. Four minutes after the shots, X featured a post about "Biden's Antifa". At eight minutes, "I guess they really do want war" Heads need to roll, but more importantly, going forward, protection has to be as certain as it can be. They know how to do it. Get focused and do the job. link |

I will say there are conspiracies theories the other way as well. Those saying Trump staged this. I have read those on the media and my cousin has a liberal friend who voiced that belief yesterday. Those blaming Trump (only) for the rhetoric that caused his own shooting. Lastly the worst of all; those saying they wished the assassin had been successful. Here are 2 more examples of the extremist. You can listen to the video and the laughing and applause. Again, why did the Sec Svc deem the roof the shooter was on was too steep to use ? I just heard a report that said just that. Too steep ? Regardless, a good terrain eval would have that structure within 150 yds of target at least be secured by LEOs on the ground. Things were made worse that even when people near the shooter on the roof yelled to LEOs in the area. And the LEOs just didn't have the time[or training] to react properly. Hindsight is 20:20 however : The shooter never should have got on the roof if the structure was properly secured. Were there not enough Sec Svc and/or LEOs to properly secure the entire area required ? There must have been some sort of coordination between the Sec Svc and local LEOs(?). Were the locals not properly trained or experienced ? Why were there not any Sec Svc or local LEOs drones in the air ? The Dir. of Sec Svc will have to go in front of Congress to answer some questions. Was this Dir a DEI hire ? Was she hired because of her sex vs. her capabilities ? We have seen too much of that going in our current gov't. Waaay too much … She may end up on the blame line and what will the gov't actually do as she is a female ? Are they now considered a minority/protected class ? Just so they can do the job effectively. I don't care anything about their sex, race, religion, etc. |

It was an easy shot to make a hit. Trump is alive in my opinion because… 1. Shooter probably didn't zero his weapon. 2. Shooter probably aimed at Trump's head instead of center mass. 3. Shooter probably lacked breathing control. 4. Shooter was probably shaking a little from muscle exertion after climbing onto roof. 5 Shooter probably jerked the trigger instead of squeezing it. 6. Shooter was probably shaking a little from excitement and knowing he was facing his imminent demise or incarceration. |

If I were the Potus, I would immediately do the following to get on top of this. Force the head of the SS to resign. Whoever was the senior federal security planner at the event would be forced to resign immediately too. Any agents who were seen in a state of Discombobulation, would be reviewed and a decision made to keep them or fire them. I would request that the state and city governments do the same. Lastly, showing that I was leading the charge for a more civil political environment and discourse, I would immediately announce pardons for Trump from all current political prosecutions. I would no longer refer to him as a "threat to democracy" and ask other to do the same. Then I'd ask that he and his followers, no longer be referred to a Nazis by those in my party and the MSM. As I recall, correct me if I am wrong, Marjorie Taylor Greene once posted a picture of herself with an AR15 and pics of the Squad, saying something about going on the offensive against these socialists. There are plenty of examples of this stuff on both sides. Maybe civil war is for real. But it's not likely the will of the majority. I think people have had enough of this and the anxiety is worse than ever. 35th, I don't think pardons can be issued without an admission of guilt, or maybe it's that a pardon is considered an admission of guilt. Instead of delaying going to trials, why not go to court and prove they are witch-hunts? That would expose the rot in the system in its own home court.
