As someone who generally can't abide dropper bottles, that seem to have taken over hobby paints, are there any ranges still being made/sold in good ol' little bottles or jars with screw-on tops/lids?

Like the late lamented Armoury, Polly S, Ral Partha, early Reaper brands?

Tamiya, Gunze Sangyo, Testors are all sold in glass bottles with plastic or metal tops.

Ral Partha paint is still being sold. Look at Ral Partha Legacy.

Thanks

more to loathe with GW type pots?

I think it has more to do with the GW part than the pot part. Gamers tend to think "just put in bottles" not thinking of retail racks, packaging etc.

Privateer Press P3 paints and Coat d'Arms paints are still in pots I believe.

We still sell the Ral Partha paints at shows and by email request. They are not on the website.

@Piper

If you are interested, I have a large collection of Armory bottles sitting collecting dust. I switched over to Howard Hues, and then to GW, and now to Vallejo. Message me if interested and we can discuss further.

Cheers,
Lou

Humbrol is still around, but they are more like miniature paint cans than screw-on tops.

I haven't used Humbrol paints in years, but I have very good memories of them.

Thanks for all the input!

I still have a dwindling stock of vintage Armoury, Polly S, Ral Partha, Reaper (old style), and a few Tamiyas and Howard Hues. Some Testors, too (Model Masters series). I'll take all these suggestions under advisement. I can always mail order some more Ral Partha's (special thanks, BVtraders!); I have done so in the past from IWD altho' they haven't always had the colors I've requested in stock.

I started to shift over to craft paints when hobby paints became so expensive and disappeared from retail stores (or the retail stores disappeared) and the dropper bottles took over. I do find them just as good, in the main. Delta Ceramcoat and Americana see to work fine for me. Cheaper, long-lasting, and more convenient packaging. So hobby paints need to give me a reason to stick with them and pay a premium. I didn't used to question them, but now I must. I little dropper bottle of hobby paint now costs as much as a package of 25 metal miniatures used to.

Life Color acrylics are screw tops that work both with a brush and airbrush. Good selection of colors and sets.
