Krahmer's "Battery" for Waterloo in 20mm. Conversions of HaT and Zvezda figures, plus some Art Miniaturen Metals. They will look far better once properly based by the good Captain.

Fantastic

Really wonderful, these will be an extraordinary addition to the project. It would be great to hear what conversions allowed this masterpiece to emerge?

Zvezda Russian artillery, with their French Artillery driver heads. Greenstuff for the back peak and the shoulder rolls and to cover the gaiters. Only painted one shoulder belt so they look like HA. I should have edited the bottom photo to remove that!

as here;

Hat Austrian ammo cart drivers converted easily to drive the limbers and caissons, plus the Zvezda riders (long coat tails and a bit over ornate but still…….)

Art Min metals needed the shakos reshaping and plumes added, plus again the shoulder rolls.

The horse holders are French Chasseurs a Cheval, disarmed and again, I think, by HaT. The 8pdr guns will pass for 6pdrs I think and two Art Min howitzers (one you sent me). I drilled holes and inserted brass wire to hold tools, to spruce up the plastic carriages.

They will look far better once based by you. From previous experience that transforms any figures.

Fabulous work as always Mr D.

The Zvezda Heavy Artillery chaps are most useful.

I am chopping some up for more dynamic Austrians as we speak.

Keep up the good work.

This is excellent.

Best wishes,

Chris

I honestly thought that Plastic Model Soldier Review had overrated the Russian Heavy Artillery. I felt that the detail was "too soft" frankly. Mind you, I thought the same about the HaT Chasseurs a Cheval.

In both cases, once I started painting them, I took it all back. The poses of the Russian artillerymen are brilliant and very imaginative. Real artillerymen at work.

Hate to admit how good Zvezda are. Can the UK still import them?

Really interesting to hear how these emerged; they're a triumph.

great work again, the battery looks very impressive

Thanks all.

Most of these figures did indeed come from Hannant's, always my "go-to" on-line store. But a close second is Wonderland Models, from that marvellous shop just beneath Edinburgh Castle. They do all seem to be able to replenish their Zvezda stocks from you-know-where

CHRIS DODSON Supporting Member of TMP19 Jan 2024 3:45 a.m. PST

That is interesting.

I used to use them but got fed up with them advertising stock that was unavailable upon ordering.

I shall have another look.

Best wishes ,

Chris

I have had that problem many times with other sites claiming to have rarities, taking my money and then eventually only offering a voucher as unobtainable. Paypal protects you and refunded my money once. Never had that problem with these two suppliers though.

Wow, what a spectacular achievement! I can't imagine how long that all took – the detailed traces etc alone must have taken an age.
Beautiful painting too – we need more pics! And close ups of those limbers and teams!

Personal logo deadhead Supporting Member of TMP22 Jan 2024 10:17 a.m. PST

Glad to and thanks again to all. Wait until you see them based by James. I know they will look far better then. These are just crude photos off my phone. Little depth of focus and available light only is my excuse;

Gosh, so lovely. One day (I hope!) I'm going to have a stab at trying to emulate those traces and harnesses etc – I'm not sure I have the patience or the steady hand required but something to aim for!
Love that trumpeter in red.

Personal logo deadhead Supporting Member of TMP28 Jan 2024 4:08 a.m. PST

Two trumpeters. One for the gunners and one for the train. Not sure what they are both pointing at. Especially if the caissons and limbers end up facing the rear (which I am convinced is wrong…I think)

As with so many of the latter, he is bit "overdressed", but trying to remove the ornaments from the shakos did more harm than good. I was tempted to carry on and give them shako covers, but their uniform is dull enough as it is. however realistic.

CHRIS DODSON Supporting Member of TMP28 Jan 2024 8:31 a.m. PST

Good point Mr D.

Having watched the RHA practising I am convinced that the teams came to the guns and not the guns being dragged to the teams.

The only time that the teams would be the opposite way around is when the guns are being unlimbered or limbered.

Best wishes,

Chris
