Do you "hobby" in your FLGS, by that I mean assemble or paint miniatures?

I do not, moving the paint, brushes, etc OR bringing a subset of your tools only to forget something seems like a pain.

No. Never have. I just play games and spend money for the "hobbying" I do at home. I have seen other people hurredly putting figs together to play a game that day, but that was unusual.

Never have. I just spend money there. Not a thing in my part of the USA, that I know of. Cheers!

No, but I've thought about it. The FLGS does have a couple nights when people come into paint. It might be nice to socialize,

Nope, never. Plus, don't have a FLGS anymore.

I have played miniatures games at my local hobby shop, which has a big room with big tables and lots of terrain to use, but I've never done any painting or assembling in a hobby shop.

A few years ago, I did visit a shop in northern New Jersey on my way to a wedding. Several guys were painting and assembling miniatures and having a nice communal afternoon.

The local store mostly hosts fantasy/GW games – played in a few years ago but our local gaming group mostly meet in people's homes – and all my painting/conversion work is done at home

Bart Simpson to the contrary, I do not regard "hobby" as a verb.

But no, I paint and assemble miniatures at home with all my resources instead of doing so in stores where I'd have to buy anything I forgot.

Our late, lamented FLGS had a night each week when gamers could bring their little men in to paint in company. I never did, mostly out of embarrassment at my ineptitude.

A few of the local stores do this on multiple days a week but I never partake. I'd end up spending more time packing, driving, unpacking, then finally getting to work on what I wanted to do only to have to pack it all up and then drive home again.

Its far easier to stay in my very nice underground bunker and getting 3x as much done as if I went somewhere else.

The socialization part could be a bonus but the typical game store crowd around here isn't really my cuppa.

One FLGS I used to go to would have a once a month, Sunday painting workshop to learn and try new techniques, but other than that, no.

At one point my local Warhammer group was doing a painting night in the local store, and I only went 2-3 times, but that was really fun, hanging out with guys I normally only saw for a scheduled battle. One guy who was normally totally silent, really opened up and told me a lot about some painting trends I hadn't heard up to that point (zenithal highlighting; this was the 2000s).
