I have Bty of these to paint, and my one source states that unlike most of the other Italian units that have some green in their uniforms, the Italian Guard HA where in blue with brown busbies and red piping and such. Does this sound correct. Cheers Dean |

Dean, The Uniformology guide no. 21 'The Army of the Kingdom of Italy in the Napoleonic Wars' by Philip Cranz agrees with you. "The horse artillery uniform was identical to the French uniform. It was dark blue hussar style with red lace and yellow metal buttons. The headdress was the French busby with a red plume and cords and a red bag with yellow trim and a yellow tassel. Officers wore the same uniform but with elaborate gold lace and frogging on the chest replacing the red lace". I hope this helps you!! |
