A slim figure cloaked in black moves through the night fighting mobsters, evil scientists, crazed old men and foreign invaders with two blazing automatics and a laugh that chilled the hearts of evil.

"Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The Shadow knows!

This character really needs a modern movie.

The 1994 Alec Baldwin one was actually pretty good, IMO. Maybe a little over the top, but it's The Shadow, which is already squarely over the top. The costuming and art direction were excellent, and the idea that The Shadow uses his mental abilities to cause people to see his features as different from Cranston (Baldwin), thus preserving his secret identity. (The Baldwin film, alas, alters the origin story completely, but in the context of the film it works, as it sets up one of The Shadow's biggest enemies, Shiwan Khan, as The Shadow's equal and opposite, linked by the same training and the same mentor.)

There's been noise about a modern movie going back to 2010, but nothing has ever come to fruition. (Last potential producer/director was Sam Raimi, but in 2015 he declared the project dead due to poor scripts.)

Back to the OP: Nifty figure and great write up of The Shadow's origins. Also like the use of the GW Gothic Ruin… fits right in with The Shadow's mythos.

Somewhere on the web there's a picture of yours truly in Shadow garb, reading a Shadow pulp magazine reproduction.

used to listen to the Shadow stories on the radio back in the day. One of my favorite characters.

Well done, the Shadow pulp cover on the ground is a very nice touch.

Parzival – I would love to see that picture!

Eclectic Wave – Thanks. I got the idea from movies when you see a newspaper blow by in the wind on the street with the headlines posted right by the hero or villian.

Wolfshanza – Ditto. I'm glad that they are still available including the serials and movies.

Parzival – I agree about the Alex Baldwin movie. It's fun to watch and captured the spirit of The Shadow.

JoeCCP – I would love to see a new movie as long if it is not made as revisionist junk.
