I thought it would be cool to give my Dwarven force Wooly Manmouths but how tall should they be? I saw several different versions on Amazon already painted. My Dwarfs are 28mm from Medbury 3D printed. |

This is fantasy, Irish: they're as tall next to Dwarves as you need or want them to be. A few considerations: 1) Do you need a Dwarf riding a mammoth like a mahout on an elephant? Mammoth needs to be small enough that the legs of a Dwarf rider fit around the neck. 2) Are the Dwarves in a howdah on top the mammoth with crossbows? Mammoth needs to be large enough to support your howdah. 3) At what size does the mammoth or a unit of mammoths become awkward on the playing table, or inconvenient to store? I haven't seen your board, your rules or your shelving. |

We are using Dragon Rampant, and I was planning on building a howdah, I have dwarf Arquebus to ride on top of the mammoths. |

OK. Real wooly mammoths ran about 10' high at the shoulder--say 2 to 2.5 times a high as a Dwarf, so maybe 3" at the shoulder? I don't know how the 3D print people calculate the height of quadrupeds, but maybe 5" to the top of the head? I would certainly cut up a little cardboard to check against your Dwarves before I started paying for 3D printing. As always, my opinion is not binding on reality. |

Will the dwarves have braided a ladder out of the mammoth's fur to get on and off? How long would the dwarve's spears have to be to reach the ground? |

I'm putting missile troops on the backs of the Manmouths. |

Irish Marine, buy as many Wooly Mammoths as you think you will ever need. Companies such as Schleich, Papo, and similar, change their lineup's, making many such toys OOP. I found some Fruit Bats, beautifully painted at the factory, perfectly sized for 20mm tall, Molotov Cocktail flinging, Goblins to ride as aerial cavalry. I was on vacation in Germany (I live in mid-west USA), and I almost did not buy them when I saw them in a store… I did, and when I returned home, they were OOP, unavailable anywhere except e-Bay, at exorbitant prices! Cheers! |

buy a 3d printer and you can have as many as you want, and you can scale them to what ever size you want, and even make one of them bigger, because he is a extra big individual with extra hitpoints ect. As per scaling, for 3d printing, I use a mini scaler I found and put it on my build plate, it has both measurements for scaling in feet for 28mm and 35mm and it also has a milimeeter scale on it, i just put the miniature next to it on the build plate and then scale the miniature til I think it is just right, it seems like it would be exact, but some miniatures a scale heroic, and some more normal scale so you still can get thin miniatures or thick miniatures that dont look exactly right next to each other. Think putting a 25mm next to 1:72, they may be the same height, but the still dont look exactly right next to each other. Some miniatures you can Thicken 5 to 10 percent with out noticably changing the proportions. Any ways, even with a 3d printer the scaling of miniature is as mind racking as buying miniatures from a vendor, only you have a few more options for size with a 3d printer. Many models you can scale to any size you want with no problem, but others you are limited in the amount you can scale them. Usually scaling things up is easier then scaling them down. I try to get stl that are sculpted more Heroic then true, as it give much more options when I try to scale them down to 15mm for my 15mm( actually 18mm) wargaming. |

The CMON mammoths from the Game of thrones game, are nice minis and look good against small dwarfs. |
