When I retired from the U. S. Army as an Infantry Officer I was a Joint Operational Planner. Having said that, I have had more success with my hobby by developing a plan over the last few years and 2024 will be no exception. As with all plans, it will be adjusted as the year goes on but I believe I now have the basic framework.

Good idea to have a plan -but will it survive contact with the gaming table?

Dining Room Battles03 Jan 2024 4:05 p.m. PST

Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. That's why we plan for branches and sequels.

I always have a plan… never works out. Shiny new and there I go, off plan.

Titchmonster – that sounds good to me.

Plan, we don't need no stinkin' plan!

The first casualty of war is the plan.

Old Contempibles – Clausewitz is often misquoted about no plan surviving contact with the enemy. He was referring to what he called "friction" and the need for Branco and sequels to deal with the unexpected. Of course I used to say our plans would barely survive contact with our own troops! Thanks.

Shagnasty – one of the all time great Bogie films.
