I think some of the Games Workshop Nighthaunt figs might fit the bill.

Is there any model, past or present, that just creeps you out?

Yes – probably GW and that's just because of the prices.

GW just looks silly to me--too overdone to be taken seriously.

There are, of course, miniatures whose presence on the tabletop is a very bad sign for the opposition. One of my regular opponents--a very skilled tactician, who grew up with the rules--sometimes used as a command figure a 30mm gorilla in a busby. When you saw Colonel Bobo's head looking out over a rampart, you knew it was going to be a tough fight or worse.

Some of the Cthulhu minis, and some of the anime proportioned ladies out there.

I myself would vote for the 1997 Ral Partha Death Dealer a la Franz Frazetta – I have a somewhat modified one that I use as the general for my medieval/fantasy dark armies of death

I'm not a fantasy or horror gamer, but the Hell Dorado demons are nightmare fuel.

So, basically the most horrible thing in wargaming is … my imagination?

Anything with 15+ metal pieces that falls apart if you look at it funny or handle it at all.

I had a player who told me that my Von Breyman Grenadiers were terrifying.
