Game system is Naval Thunder, which I find to be the perfect balance between playability and a sense of realism. For surface combat at least. Air and submarine operations need tweaking IMHO…"

Once gamed out "Yamato" versus "South Dakota" using Seekrieg, just to see what happened: no escorts, just a straight one-versus-the-other duel. "South Dakota" dramatically exceeded expectations. The difference radar and gunfire control made was astonishing.

I read somewhere … can't find the source … that one of our 16" gun battleship captains actually challenged Tirpitz to come out of its fjord and fight.
Our 1-ton shells were crushing.
You can fight this as a little boardgame with my new free print and play Postcard Murmansk at link or use that to set up miniatures scenarios.
And don't overlook my own (also free) Naval Action miniatures rules for the system at link
