I did 11 1/2 years in the Air National Guard, and a year and change in the 101st Abn. I've seen a lot of turkeys fly. |

I actually think it was Herb and Carlson that thought the turkeys could fly. Les was the "on the scene" reporter. |

Just for the record, I did get the reference. The second-funniest episode, right behind Little Ed, their wrestler turned preacher, running commercials in his sermons. "But I can't stop now! I've still got 50 units of the End of the World is Coming lawn furniture." |

My grandparents lived on farms in East Texas & raised poultry, which meant we had very fresh meat for holiday feasts. While turkeys & chickens can't really fly, when they jump off something or along the ground, they flap their wings & extend the length of their leap. My mother would throw a cloth over the ones she wanted to catch to pin them down. |

I got buzzed by a wild turkey while hiking in lowland woods here in the Midwest – not sure how it got in the trees to start with, but a big bird like that zooming over ones head catches your attention quickly (I was dead nailed if it had intended to claw me). |
