On the run up to Xmas it's traditional to get together with old friends and indulge ourselves with a bit of festive wargaming to round off the year and I enjoyed such a day the other week playing a splendid game recreating the battle that developed inland from Sword Beach as Allied spearhead units sought to push on to relieve 6th Airborne around Pegasus Bridge and attempt to get a foothold in Caen.

The rules were Flames of War which are perfect for a fun match up like this allowing for plenty of banter and chat as we played, ably supported by a fine table with plenty of toys.
