"Listening to Annie Jacobsen's Operation Paperclip: The Secret Intelligence Program That Brought Nazi Scientists To America. Jack Carr's fault, as so many things are these days. That guy's reading list could keep you buried under a TBR pile for eternity.


I had a pretty good grasp of the fundamentals of Operation Paperclip, but the details are fascinating — and appalling. The imperative to capture German technology in an incipient Cold War with the Soviets — which started before the Second World War in Europe ended — drove some very morally compromised decisions. These were not "good Germans."…!
