Anyone know if a variant for the above was ever made available on the web or otherwise? Thanks, Bob |

There are rules for Boers, just give them rifles instead of carbines, and add Pom-pom guns as Gatling. |

That and the British had overwhelming numbers and the mobility of its mounted infantry. Which allowed them to outflank the Boer armies. |

Agree that you need to add artillery. You can keep the Boer stats (I believe they were for the first Boer War). If you want an elite unit for the Boers, add in the ZARPs. Also, in the book Commando, the Boers were wearing so much British kit that they referred to themselves as the English Killing Dragoons. In my case, I included a command figure for both EKD and Bushveld Carbineers with the same troopers (so they could be used for both sides). I have heard that the British lesson learned from the Boer War was that mounted infantry was a war winning strategy. It was somewhat less successful in 1914. |

I like the Foreign Commandos made up of Germans, Dutch, Danish, and Americans. I usually rank them a little higher. |

In the early, set piece battles, half the challenge for the British was simply spotting the Boers since they were firing out of covered trenches, using smokeless powder and had dug empty decoy trenches to fool the British artillery. Come to think of it, you hardly need Boer figures at all for that stage of the war. That's if you're playing historically. There's a very fun and bloody TSATF scenario in the old Heliograph for the Battle of Paardeberg. If you send me your email, I'll send you a scan. |
