I see that this is available for £10.00 GBP in PDF,

It claims fast paly 1670-1710. Does anyone know if the book covers the Eastern Renaissance i,e Poland, Sweden, Russian and the Ottoman empire,

I know that Talon and Claw for the third covers this period but its £30.00 GBP and the rules for third ed are also £30.00 GBP, so I am a bit hesitant to shell out £60.00 GBP for book, which, given my usual lack of success of finding players, is unlikley to ever be played

Assuming you mean 'The War of 3 Kings'- which is version 3? -According to the hardback book version, the eastern and southern areas 'will be covered in a separate supplement'.

There is also "Twilight of Divine Right", but the East is again covered in a supplement "By Fire and Sword".

Hewrkeybird- I mean war of the three kings and the supplement relating to eastern europe is Talon and Claw

I suspect then that the 2nd did not cover the eastern theatre.

ToDR – I saw it being played on Youtube- it looks dull as dishwater

A long time since I read 2nd edition, but I think it did have sections on the Northern war, and Eastern Europe, but can't remember if it was enough to build armies?

thanks JohnP

I suggsted to another John that if had finished the ECW project he has been working on for the past decade that we could meet for a game. I'm trying to find something which is not complex as he struggles with learning rules . By Fire and Sword is a bit too complex for him

Neither of us likes grids or chits so FKAP is out of the question I sold off my copies of WECW and 1644 and Pike and Shotte ( on the shelf for ages no realistic prospect of a game)

Still other John is terribly flaky so I am not holding my breath

Saw this on the Beneath the Lily Banners facebook group.

Beneath the Lily Banners has been out of print for quite some time but the demand continues to be high. Other priorities prevented us getting to it for update and reprint but we have finally bitten the bullet and committed to a fully revised and update 3rd Edition. We are not calling it a 4th edition because very little needs to be changed. It will not be themed as was The War of Three Kings but rather will cover in detail, the period 1660 – 1720. There will be a raft of new photos, new text and new content but the rules will fundamentally stay true to those contained across The War of Three Kings/With Talon and Claw. We are not a big hobby company, just two guys doing our best. As such, we don't like big financial risks. Publishing books to the standard we like to benchmark costs a lot of money and we don't want to go for a massive print run for reasons of both cost and storage space. For that reason we will probably go for a limited print run, retail price will be circa £30.00 GBP-£35. We may open a pre-ordering first come first serve offer and take a non returnable deposit of a fraction of the cost for those interested. This will guarantee a copy when the print run is ready and the balance can be paid before shipping. The timescale is probably a matter of a few months. If there are gamers interested, you can let me know via Facebook or, email. I will supply this email address on request by PM here. I suspect the print run might sell out quite quickly. Let your mates know if you are interested and get in touch with me if this appeals.

Interesting so, were I too back the new edition at say £35.00 GBP I would then still need to buy a period specific supplement at £30.00 GBP So £65.00 GBP in total….

Plus its 1670 onwards wearas I am interetsed more in the period from 1600-1650 Time of Troubles and the Deluge era.

Whatever is a wannabe hetman to do

The Pike and Shot Society sells 'With Fire and Sword' supplement for large battles in this era (1600 – 1650) and 3 historical scenario books – link

This page has more details on scenarios – link

The society also publishes Twilight of the Sun King rules and scenarios. This covers 'Eastern' wars in the later period.
