Somewhere, but don't remember where, Ihave read that Roman castle (or limes walls) were painted white ( or whitwashed). Is that true.

Well, many medieval castles were limewashed so they stood out all shiny white on the hill. Helped to project power and intimidate uppity peasants!

I guess the Romans may have had the same thought…?
