We all remember the auction back in 2014 I suspect, but now I hear yet another one is up for auction in Paris shortly. The word is that he had 120 made and that 20 still exist, but the timing here is ideal with a certain film/movie hitting the screens.

1.9 million Euros from what I've heard.

That was the last one of course. Nearly ten years ago. Imagine what this one will fetch (and ignore the quoted reserve price), with a good provenance, which it has.

Let me stress, whatever you read on the confusing BBC message from "four hours ago", they are referring to the sale in 2014. This is up for auction next year

The last one from Waterloo… or the last one from Elba…?

No, the one from last the auction sale in 2014. To read of "Napoleon's hat" is much like "N's carriage". He was an Emperor and not short of a bob or two.

Pinch of salt often needed. The Mdme Tussaud carriage was remarkable for "having carried him to and back from Moscow" as it was labelled. Quite remarkable as it was a rush job construction in Belgium for the 1815 campaign.

I'm surprised none of his saddles has survived. I'd have thought there'd have been great interest in those, given that by some accounts, it was the discomfort of being in the saddle all day while suffering from lever arches that cost him the battle of Waterloo.

There are saddles at the Musée de l'Armée … I took photos of them there…
