What is the most you have paid for a single model for gaming purposes that was not just a collectible.

I posted this question before, but worded it poorly.

Don't know. Presumably it would be one of the mounted 54mm figures with my face when I got scanned in at a convention.

Anyone remember what they were charging before they went all F&SF all the time?

DisasterWargamer Supporting Member of TMP18 Nov 2023 8:55 a.m. PST

I can't think of any that I've spent more than $12 USD on. None of mine are dragon or Battlemech sized, though.

A 1/72nd metal and resin model of a St Chamond. I think it was 17 quid (about 20 USD).

Mad Anthony Jones18 Nov 2023 9:49 a.m. PST

I paid over $100 USD for a resin pirate ship.

I can't remember ever spending as much as $10 USD for a single model for gaming.

Approx. $130.00 USD (US) for a MBA pre-painted Inn/Tavern that is no OOP.

1 pack of printed oxen, and wrong scale at that $50 USD, maybe a bit over that.

I think it was a million for a space marine. :)

Really though, it was 34.99 plus tax for a scifi vehicle. Was years ago.

I spent £25.00 GBP ($31) on a figure of Ahsoka Tano once, an expensive date, but worth it!

AUD220 for the Y2K Peregrine, by Miniature Scenery. Bought it about two years ago. Just finished building and painting it this week.

Would be interesting to see this broken up into terrain, historical, sci-fi/fantasy, reference/rules, and collectible

The Nigerian Lead Minister18 Nov 2023 2:48 p.m. PST

$150 USD for a pirate ship.

myxemail18 Nov 2023 3:47 p.m. PST

I find that the higher prices per piece that I have paid, in order highest to lowest:
3D resin printed terrain (large piece)
Laser cut building kits
28mm sized or 1/56 scale armor vehicle kits
15mm armor vehicle kits

I think about $70 USD for a resin 28mm BaneBlade

ZULUPAUL Supporting Member of TMP18 Nov 2023 3:53 p.m. PST

Figure wise $15 USD
Buildings/tanks $50 USD max would be my guess.

I think around $50 USD back in late 2019 or early 2020 for a 28mm sloop from Firelock Games. It now costs around $85. USD

HO scale Schwerer Gustav for about $600 USD about 2003.

I hope to assemble it in a couple years.

I believe I paid $30 USD, for a single toy dragon used for tabletop war gaming. I tend to be frugal in my miniatures for gaming. Not a judgemental comment. Cheers!

Since I started playing Warhammer 40K (yeah, I know…), I've paid almost $100 USD for several of their kits. Other than that, for the little metal dudes the most I've paid is about $25 USD a piece for some ancient Heritage/Custom cast unlicensed LOTR cavalry that I purchased on ebay, mostly out of nostalgia.

VonBlucher19 Nov 2023 11:34 a.m. PST

$200 USD for the Hougoumont from Scenic Effects, 25 years ago.

Dunno. Not much— I'm cheap. I don't typically buy singles, but whole armies or starter sets.
Maybe a large spaceship like a die-cast Star Wars ship? In which case I hunt for sales— the clearance bin and I are good friends. So… less than $10. USD

Foreground's "Sassy Gal", pre-painted MDF kit around $130.00 USD for my 28mm Gunfighter's Ball town. (Still have to complete the 3rd floor and roof). Then furnishing all the rooms! But hey, the cost per hour of entertainment fun it has brought me is just pennies on the dollar! Sadly, now out of production but rumors abound of it making a comeback by the folks who bought Foreground. Finger's crossed to see those (and more) pre-paints make a comeback.

Chuckaroobob27 Nov 2023 8:03 p.m. PST

Armorcast Warhound Titan $120.00 USD Worth a lot more now.

For historicals, a painted 1/56 French Char 2D (IIRC) super tank.
