Gentlemen,

I recently started gaming ACW in 28mm and find myself at a loss as to where I might find things like era-appropriate buildings, snake-rail fences and the like.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Mark

I really like the paper buildings by Scott Washburn at paperterrain.com . They're "small" 28mm or perhaps "large" 20mm, which I like very much because table space can easily be eaten up by buildings, reducing the space for the troops to move around.

You can see some of them in my "Gettysburg" video, particularly from around timestamp 8:08 onwards:

(as for snake rail fences, I build my own from matchsticks, stained grey.)

Depends on what you want to get and pay. For Gettysburg buildings a company called Things From the Basement makes them in mdf so you would have to glue them together and paint them. Diabolical Terrain also makes some Gettysburg buildings and a few others which are 3D printed. You would have to paint them. Empires at War also makes mdf buildings that I believe are already painted but would have to be glued together.

I forgot to mention Battlefield Terrain Concept makes the snake rail fence.

This may help with fences:
