After finding a bit of inspiration to update my irregular blog for the first time in many months I just finished writing up some background and the first session of our recent refight of the Battle of Knocknannus which took place about 25 miles north of Cork on 13 November 1647 between Viscount Taaffe's Irish Confederates and Baron Inchiquin's Anglo-Irish Parliamentary army.

We used 10mm Pendraken figures and For King and Parliament rules with our additional celtic fringe houserules. You can find the blog using the link below.

I hope you find it a worthwhile read :)

Very interesting, I enjoyed the report (and used it as a bit for compare & contrast against my own refight: link It was a pretty important battle in terms of the Wars of the Three Kingdoms, hopefully we will get to see more refights. Looking forward to the next part!

Hi Whirlwind, your link has an extra character at the end of the URL so you get a "post not found". I can't remember the tags to use on this forum or I would have fixed it. :-)

Enjoyed both Knocknanuss reports!

Thanks Whirlwind. I did consult your refight report while putting together my scenario.

I also found a quite detailed discription and deployment plan of the battle that the local Castlemanger Historical Society put together from various sources to be very useful.

It's a great pity the BCW regimental Wiki is down (and apparently now out for good if the site owner has not been found?) as it was a great source of information to me, especially as I'm based in NZ as my handle suggests.

I've posted the conclusion of the game in a separate post.
