I deleted double posts, but everything got lost … so next try :-)

Today I published an interesting series made in 1821 and showing the Austrian army. As there had been a larger change of uniforms and equipment in the late 1820s the shown units are nearly similar to those fighting in the late Napoleonics. Some details as the curved shako of model 1815 should be mentioned, but mainly you see the Austrians which fought in the 1813 to 1815 campaigns.

The series may be reached via link

Thanks very much for those. I had seen (and photographed) a similar set in the Vienna Museum.

Very interesting how blue the jaeger uniforms are.

Many thanks for the link and for your publication of this series.

The last image is of Hungarian "noble guard" cavalry. I know little about the Austro-Hungarian army but had understood there was no guard. Am I wrong about that?

They were personal household guards and saw no combat.

@ Troackledockle; if you were expecting them to be grey you maybe need to know that the pike in Hechtgrau refers to the fish, not the spiked weapon. This colour is still in use in the modern Austrian army for NBC troops and is still the same colour.

Mark,

Thanks for the comment. I was aware that the jaeger uniform was a blue grey based on the colour of the fish but was surprised at how blue it was. Other contemporary prints collected by Markus e.g. Mollo seem a bit greyer but that may be the result of fading. Here's a link.

My units were painted in the Dark Ages so are grey but I do have another to do so it may end up bluer. I think that Dave Hollins and his fellow researchers recommend Vallejo Pastel Blue.

I may convert my older jaeger units to Landwehr which I think had more definitely grey uniforms.

I didn't know if I've ever seen a picture of the marine uniform.
