"Some of the best thriller movies are the ones that have submersible vessels as the central theme of their plotlines. Also, since submersibles are majorly used as naval vessels, such submarine movies veer mostly towards war-time drama or fictional recounting of two opposing countries facing off against each other…"

Dam the list would not be mine and I have seen all of them. But "Das Boot" and "enemy below" should be at the top of that list. I actually like a fairly new one called "Hunter killer" and "Up periscope" was fun.

U 571 should not be on this list.
The Abyss is hardly a submarine movie.
Where is Operation Petticoat?

Choctaw01 Nov 2023 6:57 a.m. PST

Destination Tokyo and The Phantom should be on that list.

I sort of think K-19 The Widowmaker and Gray Lady Down would be better choices than The Abyss and Ice Station Zebra.

The Neptune Factor!

I've seen them all, plus several others not on the list (as mentioned above). Consider it 'required reading/viewing' for those of us in the Submarine force, lol.

Das Boot should be the top one.

I would think that "Run Silent, Run Deep" "Das Boot", "Destination Tokyo" and "The Hunt for Red October" are at the top of the list. I would have thought "Enemy Below" would have made the list. "K-19" comes to mind as something that should be on the list… Perhaps this would be worthy of a TMP Poll

"Kursk", in case you are thinking of joining the submarine service.

The Bedford Incident is a good movie, but not one second of it takes place aboard the submarine.
