I have my colonials based on unit bases. How easy it to use these kind of bases with maybe mini dice to mark wounds? I want to keep my colonials based for big battles as well as some TSATF

You can – using something to mark individual figures usually being the easiest I have found

Though with unit bases – I use 800 Fighting Englishmen and a Fast Play set for Conventions – By Battalion, Volley Fire

Both are Larry Brom Products and compatible with TSATF concepts

Yep. Just use a casualty cap or some type of marker to denote casualties.

I redid my TSATF Native forces like this: link

Very much like Flashman14,

I have my colonials on bases of typically three figures.
Having at least three signal mounted figures for each unit.
TSATF is a very forgiving set of rules, designed for fun, not strict game play. The melee rules ask you to pair up the combatants casting by casting, with running away being a possible outcome for any single casting. So, markers like small color rubber-bands are very useful to indicate what the casting is called to do. With this and a few single mount figures you can play without difficulty while keeping the tabletop looking as intended. Figures mounted several ranks deep would be a bit more difficult, but doable.

Good information. Many thanks.

And allow me to reiterate that Larry Brom's "800 Fighting Englishmen" is specifically designed for four-figure bases as a Battalion level game.

HIGHLY recommended!

Makes using 15mm/18mm much easier, allowing full strength instead of individually based half strength units as I must do for my 28mm. I like using 12mm Chessex d6 to track casualties, sitting the die next to or on the base. They come in ~150 colors, with 36 dice per container. Useful in many games as markers and for rolling buckets of dice. :-)

BTW I just play the standard rules.
