Hello!

I saw the recent post here on TMP for Alternative Army's ECW casualty figures.

I like the look of them, but I did some searching and came up with nothing regarding their scale. What flavor of 15mm are they? True? Heroic? Would they fit with Steel Fist / Warlord / Peter Pig? Or are they on the larger side? If anyone could shed some light on this, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

I have quite a lot of their original figures (originally Asgard then Table Top Games) from the 1980s. Mine are 16th C but, from what I remember, the 17th C figures were the same size and build. They are slightly bigger than contemporary Minifigs but still a reasonable match. I think that puts them significantly bigger than Peter Pig but by no means on the Heroic end of the size range.

They are completely new sculpts. I have some Alternative Armies 15mm scenery which is very much on the small 20mm size.

I believe they are on the very large 15mm/18mm end of things. Normally I'd pick a couple up for review and size comparison but I'm giving these a pass (the dead man in brimmed hat is vaguely acceptable – the rest are dire)

Thanks Midlander65 and KeepYourPowderDry!

It sounds like they will be a bit too large for my armies. That's too bad.

I'm happy enough with my Steel Fist minis and Warlord infantry; I was mostly interested in their casualty figures… especially their walking wounded.

Coincidentally, I was in Detroit three days ago for an ice hockey tournament and was able to pop into Michigan Toy Soldier for the first time (wonderful place!). They had a box of Warlord ECW Epic casualty figures, so I picked them up. All is not lost.

Thank you again for the information. I appreciate you!

"I believe they are on the very large 15mm/18mm end of things."

I understood that they are new sculpts but it is a bit of a surprise that they are so much bigger than the existing ranges that they are sold alongside, especially as they seem to have been designed with a similar sculpting style.

When the Asgard range was first released there weren't many companies making 15mm – just Minifigs and Mikes Models (which were a bit Marmite – personally I hated them) so they were a very welcome addition and compared well to their contemporaries. Now however…

Peter Pig casualties might also be of interest to you (I believe that they have a US distributor).

Hmmm… I hadn't considered their offerings before you suggested that. But, after looking at their site… ah… I think I'll go another route. The scale is perfect and the poses are fine, but they suffer from the Byers' Choice Christmas Carolers figures face.

I know others like PPig figures, but they just don't do it for me. And that's okay. Variety is the spice of life. I'll use the Warlord figures, cross my fingers that Steel Fist will come out with some, and continue looking at other offerings.

Thanks for the response, KYPD, I appreciate it!
