Another Hail Caesar Bronze Age game – this time, Hittites are trying to repel a Mycenaean invasion.
However, the "unknown" is a force of Sea Peoples, just landed & fighting on which side?

The dice will tell….

Very nice and ingenious. Tell us who the Sea Peoples are allied with.

Does history tell us who the "sea peoples" were?
Just curious?

Good question, Russ.

Lots of speculation but no certainties. Possibly refugees from Anatolia & the Aegean who later went to the Western Mediterranean or possibly FROM the Western Med & who later journeyed east.

I know the later Philistines were probably the Peleset & settled in the peaceful land of Palestine by the Egyptians.

If you have an idle few hours, go on You tube with the question & you'll be entertained by videos authored by learned professors & videos by unlettered conspiracy theorists.

And BTW the current feeling is the Bronze Age collapse was caused by a number of factors, of which the Sea Peoples were but one.

I think I've seen connections between the Sherden and Sardinia, but I don't know if that's based on more than linguistics.

Game over in a handy 2.5 hours. The Hittites got walloped. Interesting thing – the Sea Peoples did not get the '10' needed to activate & stayed motionless yet menacing. My two colleagues deployed & played with a possible hostile activation in mind so they certainly had an effect.

@ Russ Dunaway,

There was a fairly recent DNA survey on some skeletons found in some bronze age ruins, don't remember the exact city (maybe Askelon or Gath) but it was in the area that would have been Philistine. The DNA concluded that they had come from the Aegean area. There were many different groups/tribes no real data on most of them.

Very nice! Thanks for posting the pictures. I don't think I have ever played a (proper) chariot-era game, should really get around to it…

You should.
I think you do a number of Ancient periods?

We do Punics & Late Romans as well as BA. It's quite interesting how different the games are. With relatively less armour & even no shields, archery can be very effective in this era. More so than in Punic Wars.ETC.

Yes, have done some other Ancients, but nothing before late Republic Romans (Greeks and Persians may happen soon). As you say, the challenges, troop interactions and overall aesthetic all look quite different.

Does history tell us who the "sea peoples" were?

Luwians!

According to Luwian Studies, the Sea Peoples and Luwians were one and the same.

But… maybe not. The Luwians are pretty mysterious, evidence about them is sparse, and research on them is pretty new. It may be a century before we have a good idea.

I love spectating your 1/72 battles, ochoin. Great job, as usual.
