I've been hand jamming in data to the Fall In 2023 guidebook app, and I'm only waiting on one more piece from Cliff Brunken (events guy) to publish. Weshoukd be good to by the weekend, I hope.

This is a preview here. We have to activate to publish it.

Just reassuring the people that we will deliver.

That's fine Rusty. No judging here, just keeping people informed.

Walt, you don't know me but I've been a big fan of your convention-related threads here on TMP for years. I would have sent this to you as a PM but since that's not possible I'm posting it here. I clicked on your link & read the preview and caught a possible typo: you have what I think should be "GM's" -- for Game Masters -- written as "GH's." No judging here either, as IMHO you are a selfless workhorse who goes above and beyond to help out your fellow hobbyists.

good catch! Fortunately a big benefit of GB is that I can continuously edit it right up to the end of te show. I am not a big ego; feel free to point out mistakes and I'll fix 'em.

Walt

PS: got the final input from events last night, and sent Fall IN to the publishing queue, I'll probably be making the big "get it here now" post today.

Actually, I just got the official word. It's GH now, GAME HOST instead of GM GAME MASTER. Don't ask me whhy, that's the word from on high.

Wow. Okay. I assume "why" is because the word "master" is now unacceptable to some arbiters of English language discourse. With two kids who graduated from college in the past half-decade and a third who will graduate in May, that probably should not surprise me, but as someone whose entire career was built on using the English language it's still depressing. Why not "GB" for "Game Boss"? Or "GW" for "Gamer Wrangler"? Well, I guess within our hobby GW would be a problem. Still, those strike me as closer to a synonymous meaning, as opposed to "host" which seems to apply much more to the organization and/or venue actually "hosting" the convention. I suppose use of the word "boss" could imply acceptance of a particular economic system which might place it outside the roster of approved vocabulary -- or identification with chain-gang "boss," which would then link it with the legacy of an oppressive and unjust criminal justice system. Sigh. Sorry, Walt, I had no expectation of, or desire for anything like this conversation when I posted my well-intentioned comment.

Has this ridiculousness finally started to creep into historical miniature gaming now? Its infested just about everything else.

This stupidity creeps in everywhere. I don't know who's worse, the idiots who suggest such changes or those who embrace and implement it. On high is about right.

In any case the Guidebook was great as usual.

Walt… you are the MASTER.
