Good for Japan! The USN has been promising at-sea tests of a railgun for a decade so far, with lots of CGI videos and art and no live tests. Hopefully the Japanese will let the US look at its homework!

I thought the USN had effectively canned railguns in favour of DEW?

I think they are testing DEW for point defense, but a railgun could be a potent strike weapon.
