I have been working on a historically based gladiatorial combat game for many years now called, "Blood on the Sands". The rules focus on one on one gladiator duels and replicate the dynamic back and forward "dance" of gladiatorial combat while incorporating the balanced intricacies of the deadly blood sport as implemented by the Romans. As one of the first steps towards the possibility of getting Blood on the Sands published I have created a Facebook page that I'd like to welcome anyone from this group to join. Your expertise on all matters gladiator may prove invaluable. link I have made available a free Quick Start kit that people can download and try out the rules for themselves.

I don't actually "do" the Facebook thing, but the preview of this looks great! I wish you success and hope to see it get published. Can't get enough of the gladiators! |

Thank you Michael. If you are interested you can drop me an email at bloodonthesands@gmail.com and I can try to get you the Quick Start kit. Facebook is a necessary evil unfortunately. |

Will the rules work for solo play? |

It is a a goal of mine to come up with a clever solo AI Nick, but as they stand, apart form playing the other guy, no. The game involves tactics and there are many decisions to be made, so it is hard to replicate a human opponent. The game would perfectly suit a solo mode and I have the bones of a solo campaign already mapped out. In saying that, I regularly play test solo by "playing the other guy" and still have a good fight. |

I am with you nnascati, I make most of my rules solo playable, but it is only possible where the number of options for actions are few. My very best wishes on writing your rules, good luck with them! |

The (papyrus? parchment? wax tablets?) 'leaflets' lying around are hilarious.

Thanks – the "leaflets" are a movie prop from Gladiator I believe. |
