Printing Scenario Maps with Poster Software

You've got a scenario map, and you need to create some hills. Is there some way to just print out the map in very large scale, so you can trace the outline of the hills you need to build? The Editor finds out...

Dear TMPers,

as you might know, the BCW Project and BCW Regimental Wiki have gone down. Although you can still view many of the pages at the Wayback Machine.

As admin of the wiki, I've been in contact with the webhosts, Krystal, trying to find out if anything can be done to revive the sites.

After much discussion, we've established that they still hold the data but cannot do anything with it until they get authorisation from the site owner, David (Dave) Plant.

I can't get in touch with Dave by any emails, facebook etc and I'm worried he might have some major health issues or even have passed away. If anyone can get in touch with or knows what has happened to Dave, please let me know.

I've tried tracking him down on 192.com etc but with no luck either – too many David Plants! If anyone has experience with this sort of thing I can supply you with the few details I know about him by email.

If we can't contact Dave then the webhosts will wipe their data for the sites in early November. I've tried to persuade them otherwise, even offered funding, but all to no avail. I don't have recent backups of the wiki.

In that case, the Internet Archive / Wayback Machine will be the only way to access the BCW sites. I would hope to try and rebuild the wiki sometime in the future, but do not currently have the skills or the time.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news on all this, the only way we can get it going again is if someone can find Dave Plant

Tim

Thanks for your continuing efforts. The news does seems rather grim. what a terrible loss of information this would be. So much time and effort that David (and you) spent on Project BCW which most of the rest of us took for granted.

Do you have a country (or city) location for David?

So sorry to hear thus. Hope he can be contacted and thank you for your efforts.

Hi all,

Thanks for the good wishes. David was living on the south Coast of the UK in 2014 then moved house but I don't know where to.

A few of the wiki users are attempting to trace him at the moment and we are considering what plan B would be if contact cant be established.

Can anyone please provide an update on the current status of the BCW webpages?

I'm guessing that unfortunately they are history as the data was going to be deleted by the host at the end of November and no reports being able to track down the site owner.

Just have to use what remains in Wayback Machine for future references.

The data is safe, and the Project and Wiki will return. But yes, Wayback Machine will have to fulfill your needs until it is restored.

Excellent news!

I am painting up a new regiment at the moment, and found myself fretting about the flags, which I'd always previously research on BCW.

Fantastic! Look forward to seeing their retrun in due course.

Thanks for the update KYPD, and for your, Tim and anyone else involved in the effort to keep the BCW pages alive, most appreciated!

It's Tim who has been doing the heavy lifting

Timbo,
I have the skills and a web server where we could re-home the pages.

If you'd like my help, email me: jhollier at jhollier.com to discuss.
