Ain't gonna happen … They are militant islamists. They care little about their own ranks as well as their own people. So the future appears to hold that many more will die.

More dead islamic terrorists … what's not to like ?

35thOVI Supporting Member of TMP22 Jan 2024 9:35 a.m. PST

The Hamas terrorist organization released a report Sunday into its October 7 attack on Israel, claiming its fighters were committed to "Islamic values" and if civilians were targeted "it happened accidentally" in the course of the murderous rampage.

"In its first public report on the killing spree that began the war, Hamas said the incursion – referred to as "Operation Al Aqsa Flood" – was a "necessary step" against Israel's alleged "occupation of Palestinian territories," and a way to secure release of Palestinian prisoners.

Hamas's 16-page report admitted "some faults happened…" and claimed its terror operatives were committed to "Islamic values", but then quickly proceeded to allege "the rapid collapse of the Israeli security and military system, and the chaos caused along the border areas" was to blame for the high civilian casualty list"

Just want to make sure everyone is clear, they were committed to "Islamic values". All clear before I move on?

"This resulted in the deaths of about 1,140 people, mostly civilians, based on official Israeli figures.

Some 360 people were mowed down at the music festival, entire families were burned alive in their homes, parents were shot in front of their children and children and babies were killed or taken captive.

All of the above has been documented via extensive footage of the systematic targeting of civilians jubilantly shared and celebrated by Hamas itself as seen through captured helmet-cam footage.

Volunteers who worked on identifying the victims spoke of horrific injuries to women's bodies, including women whose pelvises had been broken and women who had been shot in the breasts and vagina.

Many had been shot in the face to mutilate them,

Hamas terrorists seized about 250 hostages during the unprecedented attacks, and Israel says around 132 remain in Gaza.

The Hamas report, published in both English and Arabic, dismissed the overwhelming evidence of its murderous rampage as "complete lies and fabrication."

"Avoiding harm to civilians, especially children, women and elderly people is a religious and moral commitment by all the Al-Qassam Brigades' fighters," the report claimed.

"Avoiding harm to civilians, especially children, women and elderly people is a religious and moral commitment by all the Al-Qassam Brigades' fighters," the report claimed.

"In addition, if there was any case of targeting civilians, it happened accidently and in the course of the confrontation with the occupation forces," it added, even though much of the documented targeting of civilians happened with no Israeli troops in sight."

So Remember, these are the highest standards of "Islamic values"

Au pas de Charge22 Jan 2024 3:55 p.m. PST

That story seems to have been presented differently in some places or selectively edited by certain someones.

For instance:

The war began when gunmen broke through Gaza's militarised border to attack Israelis and foreigners in the streets, in their homes and at an outdoor rave party.

This resulted in the deaths of about 1,140 people, mostly civilians, according to an AFP tally based on official Israeli figures.

Accounts of sexual violence emerged but the scarcity of survivor testimonies and a lack of forensic evidence made it difficult to assess their scale.

Militants seized about 250 hostages during the attacks, and Israel says around 132 remain in Gaza.

If the problem, as you appear to suggest, is Islam itself, then Israel is in a whole heap of trouble.

"Islamic values"

Not my words..theirs.

So you don't believe Hamas committed heinous acts of barbarity? Acts so atrocious to Jewish men, women and children, that they would have made the SS proud.

I've heard of the "lost tribe of Isreal", maybe Hamas is the "lost Division of the SS". Maybe their black and silver insignia should read: "Hitler's Steifkinder".

Yes not only Israel is in trouble, but the whole world. islamic radical, fanatical, militant fundamentalists that see everyone else as "infidels" are a considerable threat. To everyone who are not them, have their beliefs, etc. Including many other moslems. If the stats are correct, and I believe they are, more moslems kill moslems than any numbers from the West's actions in the moslem world.

Regardless, the West+ needs to kill off as many of these islamic terrorists/jihadis as they can when the opportunity presents itself. To keep the rest of the world safe from these troglodytes living in the 15th Century etc. That includes many moslems who will be safe as well from these radical militant terrorists. E.g.: Iran, its proxies, ISIS[what is left of them], AQ, etc.

These radicals have no place in the 21st Century and beyond.

This is the problem with dealing with fanatics. When people are happy to kill themselves in order to kill you, they have reached the ultimate level of commitment to their beliefs. When great crowds of people call for death to America in the streets and tie this to religion, they are not likely to change their minds any time soon.

The only real defense in the short term, is military, which Legion represents here. Our safety depends not only on our defensive capacity, but also our ability to eliminate threats. With civilian leadership, we walk a difficult line. Our survival depends on both diplomatic and military capabilities. We could turn Iran into a parking lot in a day. But we need to manage our thinking for the best outcome.Down the road hearts and minds need to come into play.

In the meantime, thank goodness for a strong military. No politics please. Look around and tell me who has the best military…for real. There is no other way to ensure our safety when dealing with fanatics and dictators.

35th, I think if the poll compared support for Israel vs. the Palestinian people, that would be a much different number. While some don't agree, a huge number of people across the world apparently make this distinction.

We have wondered how much true support there is in Gaza for Hamas. In most societies there are a large number of people who do not get involved in politics. I also suspect some people in Gaza vote for Hamas because that are afraid not to. In the end, both the Israelis and the Palestinians are victims of Hamas and Iran,IMO. Take away those two, and things might get a lot more peaceful.

BTW … it is mentioned that US attacks on islamic terrorism have not worked out well. Well let's see … With 20 years in A'stan, before that dreadful withdrawal debacle. Now the Taliban/AQ and ISIS-K are back to being too busy slaughtering each other to care about anything else. I'd call this an act of unintended consequences. It had 0 to do with the horrendous plan for the A'stan withdrawal debacle. But old hatreds die hard.

But as we saw very few islamic terrorists attacks occurred in Europe and the US when engaged in killing Taliban & AQ.

ISIS is all but eliminated. And we are hunting down their remnants. Can't think of too many terrorists attacks in the West since they have been significantly attrited. I.e. killed in large numbers

Iraq is better off than under Saddam. And AQ in Iraq are gone …

Does not sound ineffective to me … Well maybe to the uniformed, amateurs, those that understand little about military ops, etc.

When great crowds of people call for death to America in the streets and tie this to religion, they are not likely to change their minds any time soon.

What the current crop of fanatics don't understand is that we have faced this kind of fanaticism before. The Empire of Japan was akin to a massive, powerful ISIS empire. Its leadership considered anyone non-Japanese to be inferior races of no value except as peasants, slaves, and Bleeped texts for their army. They brutalized vast swathes of China and SE Asia. The government of Japan had also worked for three generations to instill the ideals of "Bushido" into the general populace, so that it was honorable to martyr themselves for the Emperor. Many in the military took "never surrender" as a holy code, and would rather die in suicide attacks -- Banzai charges, Kamikaze attacks, etc. than surrender. IIRC of the some 25,000 Japanese defenders of Iwo Jima, only 200 or so surrendered.

The US didn't want war, didn't expect war, and was isolationist. But Dec 7 changed that.

That's why we had to burn Japan to ash to break them. And entire Empire of Japanese Jihad that saw itself as moral superior and uniquely fit to dominate others. Then we tore their civil society apart and rebuilt it at gunpoint.

Will this have to happen to the Islamist countries? And note I said "Islamist" not "Islamic" since not all dominant muslim countries are also active in exporting Islamism (which is a totalitarian ideology). Maybe we're not up for more nation-building after 20 years of failure in the Middle East and Afghanistan, but we certainly wouldn't be averse to creating big piles of rubble from 60,000 feet up, and 1000 miles away until they stopped bothering us with their Jihad, yes?

Oct 7 was as profound a shock as Dec 7 or 9-11. I don't think Israel is interested in the old status quo and see they have been deluding themselves about peace with Hamas…maybe even about peace with the Palestinians. So I guess my short point is that until a people really FEEL that they have been defeated in their heart and soul -- until Dresdent fell to ash and the undefeatable SS were crushed, many Germans thought they'd still somehow pull victory out of their a$$…until they couldn't delude themselves anymore, and the leaders explaining away failure after failure no longer held sway and they accepted the past delusions were over.

I guess the Palestinians don't feel that way yet. Not enough pain? I mean, I guess they see that 60 years of violence have gotten them from exile in Jordan to controlling entire areas of hated Israel, so why wouldn't they think more violence will get more progress for them?

So I guess just BOOM! until they stop their terrorist ways.

Tortorella Supporting Member of TMP24 Jan 2024 11:50 a.m. PST

I guess I still don't know if I believe that most Palestinians support Hamas. I am a fatalist about what has to be done even though the razing of Gaza makes me sick. I hate thinking about kids under that rubble. But I hate thinking about Oct 7. Hamas is the cause, and it cannot be allowed to happen again, so the job must get done.

I used to know guys who bombed Germany. One of them threw up on the runway every time they landed, thinking about the enormity of what they were doing. But he knew it had to be done.

SBminisguy24 Jan 2024 12:23 p.m. PST

And then what about the fools in the West supporting Hamas and Houthi Nazis? Here's a quote from an official in the National Teachers Union about their demand that Biden support Hamas over Israel:

For Othman, the campaign is personal. "As a Palestinian American, it hurts," Othman said, "because our union has been very focused on racial and social justice, and supporting him when he is not only funding but also sending weapons killing my people sends me the message that we don't matter, and that we are collateral damage and that's OK." She has been a teacher for 27 years, at Richards High School for 19 of them, and boasts a roster of NEA titles: To list just a few, she is secretary for her local, vice chair for her region, vice chair for the Arab American caucus, vice chair for the IEA ethnic minority caucus, and facilitator for the NEA's Leaders for Just Schools.

But as a Palestinian-American Hamas' brutal 18 years of totalitarian rule over Palestinians in the Gaza doesn't hurt.

You know what else doesn't seem to hurt her feelings?

*Hamas executing thousands of dissidents since 2005

*Hamas routine execution of people revealed to be Gay. There is no LGBTQ+ support in Gaza, only death. There is no "racial and social justice" in Gaza, only totalitarian rule and death to dissidents, Gays, and minorities.

*Hamas leaders' theft of billions of $$$ of international aid intended for Palestinians, and using $40 USD Billion in aid not for schools, hospitals, power and water, but for guns, rockets, missiles, hundreds of miles of tunnels and bunkers and on terror attacks

*The totalitarian abuse of children and Hamas-controlled public schools teaching xenophobia, homophobia, racism and antisemitism -- as well as inculcating kids into the death cult of suicide terror attacks, and teaching little kids about the glories of gun violence and killing "the Other."

*She's also not apparently bothered by Hamas' decades-long terror attacks on Israel and Egypt (which is why the Egyptian border had also been sealed).

I guess I still don't know if I believe that most Palestinians support Hamas. I am a fatalist about what has to be done even though the razing of Gaza makes me sick.

Likewise.

What is the choice, though? On the subject of Gaza fighting, at no point has Hamas tried to minimize civilian casualties -- dead Palestinians is part of their PR strategy. Dead babies and dead kids gets them lawsuits against Israel in the world court. Dead babies, that they are ultimately responsible for have value to their cause. Dead babies keeps the populace angry, the Israelis morally torn and world opinion on the side of the Palestinians.

Live babies and a well adjusted peaceful people with a potential future of prosperity and growth have no value to Hamas. Happy people who feel they have a future won't agree to machine-gun unarmed peace-hippies at an outdoor rave concert.

The Israelis tried 18 years of Palestinian Gazan Home Rule and total autonomy, even helped fund them initially, and has not gotten Peace -- only death in return. Hamas has proven it is an existential threat, and that it only wants a One State solution and genocide for the Jews. Hamas must be removed from power and crippled as a coherent government, Gaza home rule rescinded and either Gazans accept occupation and social retraining over time, or they can be helped to leave to a new home in West Bank or any other country (of which there are so far zero takers given the reputation for Palestinians being troublemakers that cause and bring trouble).

Continue to strike the Shia in Iraq and Syria that are shooting at us.

Iran is the head of the militant islamist snake. Remember when a former POTUS fired 60 TLAMs at Syria. In one barrage …Again, the current US leadership does not have the will or understands the problem with Iran. To make such a massive attack.

Imagine 60 TLAMs + drones, etc. hitting military targets in Iran. It could be done. Much of Iran's military would be gone. They may get the message. If not fire more TLAMs, Drones, etc.

We could do the same with the Houthis … If US leaders had the Bleeped text !

They are wearing rose-colored ideology glasses. IMHO Biden is not running the show, that's actually Obama. And that makes sense when you consider how difficult it is for a coherent decision to be made from this WH. And in Obama's world the US is the cause of all the troubles of the world. Literally. He said as much and his first act as President was to go on an international rout to apologize for American.

In that view Iran is only violent because it fears and it motivated by anger at the US' past actions and injustices, and that if Iran were stronger compared to US allies in the region then it would no longer be afraid and no longer commit acts of terrorism. So ultimately in this world view, the US is responsible for Iran's troubles, not the Iranian regime. So the plan was tear down US allies' power, reduce US presence while boosting non-US (and therefore more morally legitimate) power in the region to strike a balance -- an peace will break out.

Stupid, but that's what he and his cabinet work towards.

Tortorella Supporting Member of TMP26 Jan 2024 9:11 a.m. PST

Obama the drone king? The guy who got Bin Laden? Now on permanent vacation windsurfing and shooting hoops?

I remember Obama saying he made a mistake in not supporting Iranian dissidents more openly. He did not want to give the mullahs more ammo to ramp up anti American fanaticism, if that's even possible. But he may have missed a chance. We don't know how much the treaty delayed Iran's nuke development. My guess is not much. He did not do well with this.

I don't think any president has ever planned to tear down US power as deliberate policy. It's a matter of politics and semantics. But I would not give any POTUS high marks for handling Iran since their revolution.

Trying to deal with Iran is what we have done since the revolution there. Reagan as much as anyone, as his own words and actions show. It never works. We should have learned after 40 years. The only way to keep the peace is to use force with these rulers. Blow up every weapon we can find. They evaded the sanctions in the last admin. They evade them now.

Obama .. He did a few things I liked …

1) He was called the "Deporter in Chief". Reports say he deported more illegal aliens than the 3-4 POTUS before him. You can see a video where he says these illegals will take jobs away for Americans, etc. But some leader, etc. won't admit this as the narrative and agenda has changed dramatically. Anyone who supports open borders should take in 6-8-10+ of them. I'm sure they would be good house guests !

2) He lifted the ban on selling some military equipment[guns !] to Vietnam. Because the CCP was being "difficult", etc. Frankly I don't know if the US has ever sold Vietnam any weapons, etc. No reason to, there was too much left behind with the South Vietnamese forces. That now belong to the unified Vietnam.

Today due to the USA's weak incompetent leaders and appointed admin. The US had 3 KIA and 25 WIA in Jordan from Iran's proxies in the region. The feckless leadership has been told by military and intel advisors to retaliate with massive US firepower on Iran and its proxies in the region. But as usual this admin is again a day late and a dollar short. This naďve, poor, misguided leadership cost the US 13 troops in A'stan and now 3 KIAs in plus many WIA's in both operations.

A number of very powerful repeated retaliation strikes should have been happening weeks ago. Iran's proxies had attacked our troops in Syria, Iraq and now Jordan, 159 times. Costing a number of TBI injuries, and today add 3 KIA and another 25 WIAs. TBI is forever … you can't get healed/fixed.

With the assets the US has in the region, those can make strikes with TLAM Cruise missiles, drones and both USN & USAF strike aircraft. However, the poor excuse for leaders in the WH has already pulled some of our assets out of the region. They thought 2 Carrier Grps and a Sub armed with TLAMs would intimidate Iran and their proxies. It didn't … because Iran knows the US leaders are too weak and feared escalation. So those assets would not be used to it's full potential. As we see Iran's proxies continued to fire at our troops in Syria and Iraq. Along with firing on commercial and USN ships in the area.

But in an unbelievable act of incompetence, the CinC and the admin ordered one of the Carrier Grps out of the region. I don't know if the TLAM armed sub is still there ? The USN has/had 11 Aircraft Carriers, IIRC. There are 2 Carrier Grps in the Far East/PTO currently. To deal with China if need be …

The US is going to have to make massive strikes on Iran, the Houthi, and its proxies' military targets. E.g. missile sites, radars, C3, supply points, IRCG locations, etc. This should have already happened again weeks ago. The weak US leadership feared escalation … well now there is no choice but to unleash massive strikes from US, UK, etc. assets in the region. Jordan may have to add some of its assets as they now have had attacks on their country.

The poor naive US leadership got the US in this situation. I hope they now make the right moves. But based on their past record … I doubt it …

Yes I saw that it was on the news media this morning. The IDF and their leaders have to continue to hunt down every Hamas, etc. islamic terrorists in Gaza. The IDF's MOUT Ops is lauded by many including West Point Officers. They added a chapter on to how to fight in an urban environment with insurgents.

However, I had no allusion nor had many others. In this type of warfare, CD losses will occur, especially when your enemy is hiding behind their population as meat shields. So yes Hamas, etc. and the non-combatants have taken some heavy losses. Verses all things being considered the IDFs losses were fairly low.

For better or worse many noncombatants will continue to die as the IDF attrites Hamas, etc. in the Gaza Strip. All the IDF can do is try to mitigate CD. But they can't stop now. And they won't stop, that is the reality of the situation. The endgame is to kill as many Hamas, etc. as the IDF can. And sadly or not the non-combatants will take more losses.

What did Hamas, etc. think was going to happen after 07 Oct. 2024 massacre ?

"Yet as of now, after 124 days of fighting in both Gaza and in the north against Hezbollah, a total of 562 Israeli soldiers have died—a total that includes 373 soldiers and local security officers, who died on Oct. 7 itself, when any and all immediately available soldiers—only some of them as organized units—rushed in to fight Hamas infiltrators wherever they could find them."

"Regardless of what happens from now on, the Gaza fighting to date has been an exceptional feat of arms. A conservative estimate—the lowest I have seen—is that approximately 10,000 Hamas fighters have been killed or terminally disabled, along with an equal number of wounded who may or may not fight again in the future.

The sensational 1 to 50, or near enough, kill ratio achieved by the IDF in fighting Hamas in Gaza is all the more exceptional for reasons that neither official Americans nor official Israelis care to mention, albeit for different reasons."

Yes, regardless of pro-Hamas propaganda that was frequently posted here. The IDF taking fairly low losses for large gains. The Gaza strip will soon be under IDF control and Hamas will have been significantly attrited. But as in MOUT warfare the non-combatant losses will be high. If they were not allowed to be evac'd. But civilian losses play into Hamas's and Iran's plan to vilify the IDF.

So team Biden want to send $100 USD Million to Hamas in the Gaza for "humanitarian" purposes. Guess he'd trying to buy off the organized US muslim vote, and Israel be damned.

SB maybe he and Hamas are working together. Saw this today. I think you are correct and I think Hamas needs money.

" – In a recent statement published on Telegram, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh pointed fingers at Israel for the lack of advancement in reaching a ceasefire agreement in Gaza, the terrorist group disclosed on Saturday.

Yet, Arab media later reported that Hamas suspended all negotiation and ceasefire talks due to a demand for aid.

Haniyeh emphasized Hamas's consistent efforts to engage positively with mediators to halt aggression against the Palestinian people, end the unjust siege, and facilitate aid delivery, shelter, and reconstruction efforts.

Despite Hamas's purported flexibility in negotiations, Haniyeh lamented Israel's perceived maneuvers and delays, which, he claimed, exacerbate the plight of the Palestinian population.

Notably, one of the sticking points in the negotiations revolves around the release of prisoners held by Hamas, with the organization highlighting its previous concession of releasing hostages in exchange for security prisoners held in Israel for terrorism offenses.

However, Haniyeh asserted that Hamas remains steadfast in its demands for a comprehensive ceasefire, including the cessation of aggression, withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, lifting of the siege, provision of safe shelter for displaced individuals, particularly in the northern Gaza Strip, and commitment to reconstruction efforts.

The Hamas leader emphasized the importance of addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and ensuring the release of older prisoners and those serving long sentences as part of any potential prisoner exchange agreement."

The funding of Palestinians most which, the $ is going to Hamas, etc. No more $ should go to the Palestinians/Hamas. Is not in the USA's or Israel's best interests.

The same goes with the softball game the US leaders are playing with Iran. The US leaders are being taken advantage of by Iran. E.g. the US should give no more $ of any kind to Iran. The US has to place very strict sanctions on Iran as it was with the past admin.

Will Putin take their Hamas brothers and sisters from Gaza to Rossia?

Looks like the administration is kowtowing to the pressure of the anti-Israel cabal of students and Muslim voting blocks, going into the November elections. If I were Israel, I would tell them to pound sand. Israel won't get another opportunity like this again.

"New York
CNN

The United States has proposed a United Nations Security Council draft resolution on Gaza calling for a temporary ceasefire in Israel's war against Hamas and warning against an Israeli ground incursion into Rafah, where hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians have fled over the course of the conflict.

….

The Biden administration has grown more vocal in expressing concerns over how Israel is conducting the war. Last week, Biden told Netanyahu that the military action "should not proceed," according to a readout of their call."

"Richard Goldberg, a former NSC official during the Trump administration, told Fox News Digital, "The United States should be vetoing pro-Hamas resolutions, not proposing them. By putting forward a resolution calling for a ceasefire and opposing Israeli military action in Rafah, the White House is effectively pushing for Hamas to survive to massacre another day. This is a complete betrayal of U.S. interests and values.""

No..not as in the past admin for sanctions. Sanctions then meant oil waivers for Japan, South Korea, China, etc. The mullahs raked it in. China had a dark fleet of tankers also to evade sanctions. The last admin also failed to make effective strikes on Syria, then told everybody how strong they were. All done with mirrors.
You have to have a military response to Iran at some point that isn't just for show. Long overdue. Goldberg has a lot of fancy titles from his Trump year, but not a lot of experience. He's out there to push the political side of this, has no interest in problem solving.

Netanyahu is going to string this out forever to stay in office.

We need US Attacks on Iranian military targets. Covert strikes, even a series of small ones. Deny everything, keep them coming, keep them unsettled. And the next time we spot an Iranian naval surveillance vessel, one round across the bows, the next one on target unless they run. Enough of these missile strikes. This should have been over by now.
