The only winners are going to be the evil Bleeped texts who decided their cause would gain by provoking Israel.

Israel cannot bomb all Gaza, bulldoze it into the sea, drive out the Palestinians etc etc etc.
Way before they succeeded, they would have lost far more than they gain.

The purpose of the Hamas attacks was to provoke the Israeli response.

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP05 Nov 2023 10:20 a.m. PST

The purpose of the Hamas attacks was to provoke the Israeli response.
Exactly … they were as brutal as possible to incite the IDF to quickly rolling into Gaza. To get hit by IEDs, mines, booby traps, ambushes, snipers, etc.

As I have said the IDF is pretty much fighting MOUT correctly and as well as possible. Slow, methodical, determined, etc. with a lot of fire support from FA, CAS, and Armor. We see how effective they are using armored D-9 dozers to clear rubble, obstacles, etc. covered by MBTs, etc.

The IDF Infantry is high quality and effective. Plus, after what Hamas did to Israelis on 07 Oct. I.e. medieval barbarism, rape, torture, dismemberment, burning people alive, taking hostages of all ages, etc., etc. Horrific in any century. The IDF is looking for payback big time. Hamas will pay the butcher's bill many times over.

But again, as in many other of the of the Arab-Israeli Wars. The IDF bested their Arab enemies. They did not take the bait and run into the Hamas defenses, etc. Again, the IDF is doing this type of op correctly, IMO. This way the IDF is operating has a better probability of saving some of the hostages.

Even Hezbollah, Syria, and Lebanon may be firing missiles, FA, etc. into Northern Israel. Making a few cross-border raids, etc. I don't think they will risk getting on the receiving of IDF firepower. Plus, the possibility of two USN Carrier Groups and USAF assets able to service targets with extreme efficiency.

In the end the IDF will be successful. Killing many islamic terrorists, e.g. Hamas, Hezbollah, etc. And yes there is CD, that is SOP for MOUT many times. There will be civilian losses. Partly because Hamas is using them as human meat shields. Not letting many of them leave to the South. Much of Gaza's infrastructure will be rubble.

This may be a long war …

You know, if Israel drove the Palestinians out of Gaza, they would at least accomplish elimination of one border to defend.

Andy ONeill05 Nov 2023 12:21 p.m. PST

You realise they occupied Gaza in 1967?

It wasn't politically worth their while staying then.
I doubt it'd be any more so now.
This isn't a problem can be solved by the IDF.

35thOVI Supporting Member of TMP05 Nov 2023 12:26 p.m. PST

Well maybe this time, with Hamas driven into the sea, it would be worth it.

And yes I am aware.

Who are the ones who don't support Hamas? They always seem so happy when things are working out. They are only begging for mercy when they receive punishment.

"Hamasisis

I take back what i have said
Hamas is not Isis
Hamas is worst than Isis
Hamas is an organization chosen by its supporters, Isis was not!
Who do you call "uninvolved"?!?????
The same "uninvolved" who were happily to participate at the october 7 massacre??
I hear unbelievable voices, buds of mercy???!!
For a humanitarian ceasefire, or something psychic like that!
When our children are in their hands, you have mercy?! Mercy for Hamas supporters???
Mercy for a brother who dreams of being like his older brother who slaughtered and raped Jewish women?!
About a mother who receives a call from her son after he slaughtered 10 Jews and cries with his father out of happiness?!
Who gave birth to these terrorists?!
Who sent them to schools where they teach how to kill Jews?! Who gave each of them the blessing to keep act this way?! Who handed out candies for years after every terrorist attack in which Jews were murdered?!
Who stays in those houses over the tunnels and in the hospitals to protect those Rats in the tunnels along with our abductees??!?
Who exactly do you feel sorry for???
Sorry for a population that sanctifies death and will not rest until each of us is in the grave?!????!!
That will throw every Israeli into the sea if given the chance?!!?"

Well according to the Palestinians, some other moslems and their supporters in the USA, Europe, etc. Say the Jews are occupiers. Save for the fact that thousands of Jews were living in what was called Palestine for about 2500 years of more.

Why have not people been arrested for hate crimes?

"From the river to the sea" calls for the extermination of the Jews of Isreal and its being done on our soil. Other heinous things have been done.

You can't arrest one of these kids for a hate crime unless he commits a serious offense, like assault, willful destruction of property, murder, rape, while demonstrating bias regarding race, ethnicity, gender, etc. I am not up on guidelines for this today. But that's basically the law – a traditional crime with bias.

The river to sea chant was not universally considered anti-Semitic, but in todays context it is. Maybe not as blatant as the "Blood and Soil" chant at the Unite the Right rally, but it's seems clear it's saying the old Palestine will return and Israel will be gone. Which is what Hamas wants it to mean.

I am not sure you can arrest somebody for saying it just on its own, unless it also contains an additional spoken threat of violence or specially mentions Israel. But I could be wrong.

35thOVI Supporting Member of TMP06 Nov 2023 4:55 a.m. PST

Notice the quote "it may also cover". "From the river to the sea" is asking persons to drive the Jews out of the ME by any means possible. In my book that classifies, maybe not in others.

(The "crime" in hate crime is often a violent crime, such as assault, murder, arson, vandalism, or threats to commit such crimes. "It may also cover conspiring or asking another person to commit such crimes", even if the crime was never carried out.)

We have had student vandalism and threats, but to my knowledge few of any have been accused of hate crimes.

There have been a very few arrests

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr., today announced the indictment of LENNY DE LA ROSA, 21, for vandalizing three synagogues and a Jewish volunteer ambulance on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in August 2023. DE LA ROSA is charged in a New York State Supreme Court indictment with four counts of Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree as a Hate Crime. [1]

"As alleged, Lenny De La Rosa defaced three synagogues and an ambulance in a series of antisemitic acts," said District Attorney Bragg. "Synagogues are sacred places where everyone should be able to practice their faith safely. We will not allow our houses of worship to be violated by hateful acts and we do not tolerate bias and antisemitism."

According to court documents and statements made on the record in court, on August 12, 2023, at approximately 7 p.m., DE LA ROSA wrote "JESUS SAINTZZZ" on a screen in front of a synagogue near East 85th Street and Lexington Avenue.

Two days later, at approximately 3:45pm, he wrote "DEAD RIIP" on a glass display in front of a synagogue near East 79th Street and 2nd Avenue. Less than 30 minutes later, he wrote markings on the side of a Hatzalah ambulance – part of a Jewish volunteer ambulance service – near East 85th Street and Lexington Avenue. Less than five minutes later, he wrote "Dead B-P" on the front door of a third synagogue at East 82nd Street and Lexington Avenue.

DE LA ROSA was arrested two days later after an officer recognized him from a wanted flyer.

Assistant D.A. Brendon Mahon (Trial Bureau 60) is handling the prosecution of this case, under the supervision of Assistant D.A.s Constantine Coritsidis (Deputy Chief of the Hate Crimes Unit), Hannah Yu (Chief of the Hate Crimes Unit), and Executive D.A. Lisa DelPizzo (Chief of the Trial Division).

D.A. Bragg thanked the members of the NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force, particularly Detectives Ashley Breton and Lysette Felicianotengco. He also thanked the 19th and 25th Precincts.

That sounds right, 35th. Inciting to violence is a crime.

River to the sea once had a more inspirational meaning before Hamas made it a dog whistle. Tlaib should have known better, maybe she does.

I would not want to be a cop figuring who to arrest. Nobody wants to be the word police. This is more down to college administrators.IMO. they need to set standards right now. They should get some legal advice, give students notice, and expel them if they violate standards protecting against incitement of violence anywhere, not just on campus.. this will stand as a deterrent for the majority of students at least, based on my recent experiences on campus. And the same for faculty, admin, etc.

Public pronouncements that can endanger others are a recent hazard in our public life. I have testified in court many times. It's always nerve-wracking, but given the nature of verbal attacks on the courts, DAs, juries, witnesses today I am glad to be out of it.

Yes, it's a hate crime! She tells the detectives it is!

She actually backed in from that little driveway, not much momentum. I guess it's the thought that counts. I would not send her to Gaza, they need every building they have. Maybe her family is relieved. This has to be the dumbest hate crime ever. Jail or deportation to a pile of rubble.

Here's another way to deal with the Hamas tunnels -- pump 'em full of fuel-air explosives and light it off, see what happens. I still like the drone swarm option better, dunno why Israel doesn't seem to be doing that.

Tortorella Supporting Member of TMP06 Nov 2023 1:09 p.m. PST

What about the hostages? And what ever happened to making a trade? Israel has hundreds of Palestinians in jail. At this point, who knows how many are left.

The CIA director has arrived in Israel. I hope they are thinking about the guys in Iran who are pulling all the strings – as they have all the way back to Beirut.

SBminisguy06 Nov 2023 3:11 p.m. PST

I don't think any of those hostages will be seen alive again unless they are rescued by Israeli Defense Forces. The US also has some x500 hostages being held in Gaza, that's why Biden has been sending aid to Quatar to try and buy some back from Hamas, eh?

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP06 Nov 2023 5:50 p.m. PST

What about the hostages? And what ever happened to making a trade? Israel has hundreds of Palestinians in jail. At this point, who knows how many are left.
The US has drones, flying over Gaza. Looking for signs of the hostages, etc. As does the IDF. The US has Spec Ops troops in Israel "advising" the IDF. The US & IDF are two of the best militaries for hostage rescue ops. That is something to remember. Of course, there are no guarantees … but if any forces can do it these troopers can.

I don't think Hamas is going to trade the hostages, those that remain, until their backs are to the wall. And by that time the IDF will knocking at the doors. With many Hamas already dead or dying. Remember the IDF wants payback. Hell, I do too when it comes to islamic radical fundamentalist terrorists.

I really think the IDF trading all the Palestinians, etc. in jail will be the very last thing they want to do. On the way to culling Hamas, they won't want to send them anymore reinforcements. As we see when ISIS, AQ etc. are released many ends up back on the battlefield. The only good thing about that is now they can be killed. They are no longer a threat then.

With these islamic fanatics, jihadis, terrorists, etc. the only way to end their threat is to kill them. On the battlefield, of course, we don't execute EPWs.

We have a problem now with all the ISIS EPWs and their families[who are ISIS islamists too] are in camps guarded by Kurds, etc. Thousands of them … What can there be done with these fanatics? We have ended their caliphate, killed top leadership and many, many of them and their supporters are dead. We still kill more of them, often in Syria and Iraq.

Can all those ISIS terrorists be released and go back to being peaceful farmers, sheep herders, etc. ? I don't think so … the same goes for all the Hamas EPWs already in prison …

The leaders of Hamas are rolling in money from the safety of their mansions and estates in Quatar. They have stolen $11 USD BILLION in foreign Aid intended for the people of Gaza. And that's just the top leadership, how many more billions have been siphoned off by their lower ranking leaders, by their handlers and enablers in the Arab world, by Western "aid" groups, NGOs and politicians?

Hamas leaders worth staggering $11 USDB revel in luxury — while Gaza's people suffer

While their people languish in poverty and are treated as human shields, the leaders of Hamas live billionaire lifestyles.

The terror group's three top leaders alone are worth a staggering $11 USD billion between them and enjoy a life of luxury in the sanctuary of the emirate of Qatar.

It's clear there can be no Two-State Solution -- its already been tried for 18 years. Israel tried for 18 years by giving Gaza full autonomy. Gaza got $40 USD BILLION in aid money, which we now know probably half was looted by Hamas leaders, loyalists, suppliers and enablers. Much of the rest of the remaining unlooted $20 USD Billion was spent on defense tunnels, weapons, training and terror attacks -- a pittance actually helped the Gazans. No new schools since 2005. No new hospitals since 2005. No new power plants since 2005. No new water treatment or desalinization plants since 2005. But they did create an entire generation of SS-Einsatztruppen minded people who seem to revel in the extermination of Jews, Gays and other Outsiders. Even Christians have been persecuted out of existence in Gaza, and the majority of Christians in other Palestinian areas forced out.

So this can only end with Hamas' total defeat as an organized entity in Gaza, the end of autonomous rule in Gaza and a reoccupation. It will take generations to unwind Hamas' brutality and brain-washing. And maybe Israel decides that Gazans will be resettled someplace else -- let them go to those nations who say they support them, yes? Certainly Quatar has the room for that!

So are you using the progressive woke standard of vilifying US white Christians. If you are White you are the oppressor is what is being said, way too often.

Someone's gotta 'splain to the gangs in the cities that they are now "white Christians", because they account for most of this. And "children" by the way, is almost all the 15-19 age group.

So your narrative may be freckle faced blond kid in a suburb somewhere, byut reality is an urban gang fight in which half of the "children" are old enough to enlist.
