Very accurate description

I didn't believe them all

This is from the Beano comic. Not a reliable source of historical information, but something that has given me many laughs over the years

The joke the sticks most in my mind is the book on the teacher's bookcase called "Battles made boring"

Halloween was Irish and Scots and England did ban Christmas during the commonwealth period under Cromwell.

The scots never really got back into the habit and celebrated New Year (Hogmanay) as still can be seen as they have two days holiday at new year and england only one.

is the tradition of "first footing" followed in parts pf the USA?
