Has anyone constructed and used this fort in 15mm? Did you find it simple to construct, have any advice on things you would do differently during the construction?

I'm teetering between paper vs. either a resin or 3D printed version.

@Northern Rebel,

I have built a lot of the 15mm Vauban Fortress from PaperTerrain. I found it to be straight forward, but at times it can seem like you won't be able to get it done. The fact that you don't have to paint is also nice.

Scoring the card before you bend it really helps. Scott sends pro-tips on how to best build his models.

My blog has the fortress in action:

Eric,
Thanks for responding! I actually just purchased your rules from OMM yesterday. With that said, I'll order the PT fort plus a couple extras.
I'll tell Scott, Eric sent me!

Seems the perfect pair for some solo gaming I plan on doing. Or, long distance gaming with a friend in Europe.

Thanks for picking up the rules too! I think you will really enjoy them. They are not designed to be played solo, but if you enjoy a good narrative in your games, it will still work solo.

To the siege lines!

I did three bastions and accompanying ravelins, etc. it took a while but speeds up once you get the hang of it.

Hello DinOfBattle2,

Very impressed with your painted miniatures, Vauban fort, scenery and siege lines. I am new to WSS and recently finished painting up my first five units of infantry. They are British, and several French battalions will be next. I will probably scratch-build my fortress but that won't happen soon. The Paper Terrain scenery is very encouraging. I think it looks great on your battlefield.

Cheers!

Thanks @Gallo!

It is a lot of fun to fight siege battles! You need a lot of terrain, but not a lot of troops when compared to the big battles.

Sieges of Vauban-style fortresses were so typical of late seventeenth and eighteenth century warfare that it would be neglectful not to consider them. The Paper Terrain model seems to get many of the details right.

I am also using 15mm scale so it's Minifigs, Roundway and Dixon (also a few Hallmark). I plan to use "Beneath The Lily Banners" as my rule set.

Cheers!

Gallo
