I'm new to gaming WW2 Pacific and have a copy of these rules. They seem very straight forward to me, but I do have a couple questions. Page 19, under rule 24.5 Air Vs Ship, it reads aircraft missions are described in 26.2. Where is 26.2? Japanese planes can Kamikaze. There's no combat number after each planes K in the charts. Why not? Page 6, under rule 4.2.1, states a ship may reduce speed by two levels a turn. Speeds are F(full) M(medium) and S(slow). It then states a ship can't go from F to S. Which is correct? I understand that there used to be a Q & A page out there but I can't find it. If anyone can shed any light on the above for me that would be great. |

Any rules with such basic errors as that would go straight in the bin if they were mine. |

I gave DG a try but no luck. I can't find anything online either. I like the rules. No booking which is just what I was looking for. I can work thru my first two questions above leaving the third. Turns are 30 min so I would think a ship could drop two it's speed two levels in that amount of time. Right? That just leaves me with one final thing. Damage Repair. 18.1 gives an example where a ship rolls a 1, 3, 5, 10 and 15 to remove hits. The 1 and 3 remove a hit while the rest do not. Thing is, the Damage Control table shows that rolls 5 and 10 would have removed a hit as well. I think the table is right, but I'm not sure. Has anyone seen any official errata for these rules? |

You may also be interested in a pot relating to BSBS rules clarifications from 04 March 2007. This raised and answered a number of questions in addition to the points addressed in the errata document. This thread may be found in the Naval Products Review section of the WW2 naval boards. Night attacks are resolved at Extreme Range. This is with a negative modifier as well. I've read some accounts regarding Pacific battles where the Japanese ships used spotlights during engagements. This had the affect of not only spotting allied ships but could also backfire and highlight the Japanese vessel itself. What would be the best way to home rule that? I considered using this where ships are at Point Blank Range. Then using the Normal Range distance to resolve combat. Is it even worth trying to come up with a home rule for this when each turn is considered 30 minutes? |
