We're not the only ones giving it the boot. Norway already has and Belgium is ditching theirs as well. However it is serving well with other countries, so what went wrong here?

Perhaps countries that still use them to not push them as hard and as often?

79thPA , correct … the ADF is pretty hard on equipment and stingy with repair parts

NH Industries/Eurocopter allowed heavy customization for each customer's fleet. This led to a lot of modification programs being executed concurrently (which they struggled with) and a lot of fairly unique spares requirements, which made a mess of the supply chain.

I'm sure there were other issues, but when I was reading up on the Omani NH90 procurement (I was working out there) the above came to light.

I guess the Omani's will keep theirs since they were gleaming. Hardly flew them of course!

That is too true, mate. DMO/CASG culture is all about procurement- they should never haver amalgamated procurement (DAO) and Support Command. Trying to get a project manager to consider support for the life of type was- with a few exceptions- like talking to a brick wall. Parakeet is probably the last project I was involved in which had full support built into the project.

Then there's that ground crew member I met at the GW store who said the deal for licensed production included a requirement to send any repaired wire harnesses to the parent company in Europe for factory testing.

That's not uncommon, chironex. It's much easier for a project manager or project loggie (many of whom don't even know what a Q Store is) to set up a supply and maintenance contract than it is to set up in-service support. They also don't have to get personnel trained in equipment care and feeding, nor organise the S&TE and facilities to test and classify the equipment. The companies are all in favour of such a move, of course. To be fair some provide great service at a reasonable cost. But they aren't a majority- or weren't in my experience.
