More recent rules and points changes for 10th edition Warhammer 40,000 – and it's only been out for three months! Is this too much? I think so.

The game launched with some serious balance issues. Eldar was getting like a 67% win rate in tournaments, joke being they only lost to other Eldar. You might think, oh I don't play competitively BUT this is the Information Age and word travels at the speed of light. Even casual players drift towards power. Oh wow, these Inceptors are good, I'm going to get another unit!

If GW does nothing, the perception that the game is broken and not worth playing also spreads at Internet speeds. They have to do something to make it look like they are taking steps to get that magic 45-55% win rate.

They did more than adjust points and special rules which is troubling and core mechanics are different. I don't know what the solution is but 40K was never balanced even in 3rd edition. Fixes to what's broken is part of the hobby. At least the Information Age makes it easier to disseminate the changes.

GW doesn't seem to play test very much. Balance has never been a priority. They have even stated that their goal is to sell miniatures

I'm not trying to insult GW, that's just how they operate. Sometimes they discussion about balance on the internet is basically free advertising

We are having a lot of fun with One Page Rules' Grim Dark Future and have not looked back at 40k.

Without looking, isn't Eldar about the only original type army left?

I mean that other armies have huge numbers of tack ons.

Like space marines have primaris guff and now flamer troops and all the other wierd weapons and suits that were never there before.

Now Tyranids are the same.

Remember when Necrons were just a lord, warriors, immortals, scarabs and destroyers? And even that was a big upgrade for them!

Arnt Eldar pretty much as they have been for decades? I'll have to check, but I've not noticed many new bizaro troops.

That may be the explanation.

PS just checked.

Just more harlequin things and some jets, some more bike options and more characters.

Otherwise just like the 90s.
