I believe Heroics and Ross are the only 5mm and are well proportioned but really not compatible with the other two I know which are Baccus and Adler. Personally I prefer Baccus for infantry and Adler for cavalry and artillery but this is very much a matter of personal choice. I'd recommend a small order from each and decide yourself or ideally, someone local (FLGS?) will have armies for you to examine.

Irregular Miniatures has a large Napoleonic range too. They are a different style to the other ranges but produce equally good results in my opinion.

Heroics & Ros are smaller and thinner than other options – I am not sure if their Naps range is still available – you have to check with them.

Baccus are larger than 6mm – lovely figures and detail – extensive range and all still available

Adler – out of scale heads – but nice figures

Irregular – not for me – a bit crude but can paint up well if you take the time

Agree with the above as I have most of them – Heroics & Ros nice but small – that being said, if you keep them to their own units will blend OK on the tabletop

Baccus- nice figs, easy to paint up, good range

Love the Adlers – big heads but very animated, I prefer their cavalry to Baccus for that reason

Irregular – have to agree with Andrew LA here

Aren't there 3d prints available now also?

Agree with almost all the above. I find that Irregular can be used with H&R, and Baccus with Adler, but not, say, Baccus with Irregular. Does it suggest anything that my customary "formed infantry" unit is 24 casting in two ranks--but that a 60mm frontage in Baccus and Adler, and a 2" (50mm) frontage in H&R/Irregular periods?

My 6mm Napoleonic stuff is all H&R and Irregular. I'm not a fan of the more modern Baccus and Adler stuff as they tower over my old HR figures, many of which are well over 40 years old. The Adler heads are also not to everyone's taste (mine included), and the Baccus stuff is more like 8mm. It certainly isnt 1/300th scale.

Havibg said that, if starting from scratch, Baccus is a reasonable choice. The figures are nice, and being much bigger, and mounted in sensible strips, easy to paint. My ACW stuff is all Baccus.

I'd also put in a word for Irregular. They look a bit rough in the raw lead but paint up very well. Almost all my APW/FPW stuff is Irregular, about half my Napoleonics and all my WW1 Middle Eastern stuff.

They take a wash well.
