Seven-year-old Prince Alemayehu was taken to England after battle of Magdala, and he died there in 1879 at the age of 18.

Some time ago Haile Selassie visited the UK, during the visit he had lunch at the Royal Artillery Officers Mess at Woolwich. At some point during the visit he was shown around the Mess Silver Room, when he spotted some artefacts "liberated" from Ethiopia by members of the Mess. These were immediately taken from the cabinet and packed ready to return with the Ethiopians.

As he was preparing to leave Hailie Selassie presented them to the Mess, they are still there,
