The Battle of Antietam ( Sharpsburg) 17th September 1862 Timeline 10.15 AM The Union Second Corps advance continues. The Second Division commanded by Major General John Sedgwick and led by an enthusiastic Major General Edwin V. Summers enters the West Woods in anticipation of destroying the battered remnants of Jackson's Corps . url=https://postimg.cc/gwybdpr7] ‌ These Confederate troops, reinforced by Brigadier General John G. Walker's small Division are positioned to receive this assault supported by the regrouped artillery on the Hauser ridge. url=https://postimg.cc/4Y9TLVGs] ‌ Meanwhile, the Union Second Corps, First Division is attacking the sunken lane area. This manoeuvre will take time and therefore the Second Division led by Brigadier General Samuel D. Chris, your epic battlefield is still serving up great visuals here! Does the sand start to flatten out (needing moistening periodically)?

Thank you again. Yes, a certain amount of damping down where the sand has gone ‘Sandy' is required when redeploying the troops. You have to be careful as wet sand absorbs light so letting it dry after helps. Plus, dry sand is easier to brush over all the bases! My wife is not keen on the Rhorbach extension so I took the 10.30 AM scenes as well as 10.15 AM, before dismantling it to store under the main table . I am pleased with the results but will keep them until the rest are done. Best wishes, Chris

Chris, excellent work as always. You are an amazing scenery builder. For example. Your fences are very realist looking right down to the ramshackle appearance of the snake rail fences.

Thank you. You might find this excellent link informative. YouTube link I use the same techniques as the original builders employing split twigs from the garden. The post and rail fences use balsa uprights with the holes cut out, fiddly but effective. Incidentally, Antietam fences had six bars where they were usually five elsewhere. Chris, A fantastic and impressive sight these battle tableaux! Well-modeled, composed and photographed. Eminently worthy of forming the basis of an illustrated history of the Antietam campaign or as a permanent museum-quality diorama. Or both! Thank you for sharing this monumental project with us.
