"Trenton with Regimental F&F" Topic

My brother is coming next week and the first game we plan is Trenton. My AWI troops are 28mm, but we will use the 15mm map and move and shooting distances. Troops are based 4 to a 40mm square, 2 ranks, which will represent two stands in RF&F. A 28mm building represents an entire block.

Has anyone gamed this scenario using these rules? It is pretty clear that if the Hessians try to form up and fight an open field battle, they lose: Americans have twice the troops and three times the artillery, plus some really good leaders.

However, the scenario rules require the Americans to clear the town. IF the Hessian fort up, that may prove a challenge. Hessians have 6 battalions, each of which can occupy a building (block). Three regimental COs plus Rall. Plus their three guns can fight from streets between two defended buildings, which tends to limit the Americans' artillery advantage.

I'm going to do that solo over the next several days, to see what sort of game it makes.

John, I wish you could reconcile with the editor. I know you have done Trenton in depth, and would enjoy knowing your thoughts.

If you dont find the scenario working for you – you might try adding some of the decision and events that Little Wars TV adds to their refight of Trenton.

While I have enjoyed the FnF scenario – the extra decisions and events can make it a more replayable scenario.
