Last Saturday the Hull & East Riding Wargames Club played out "Operation Market Garden" in 20mm scale.

Across 3 tables totalling over 50 feet in length over 20 players re-fought the battle based on the 17th to 20th of September 1944.

The result was fairly accurate with 2nd Para holding for most of the game before being overrun, whilst the remainder of the British airborne failed to fight their way through Arnhem to reach Frost.
107th Panzer Brigades arrival spelt doom for the Guards Armoured Division who suffered heavy losses and failed to reach Nijmegen before the end of the game.

A very enjoyable days gaming was had by all.

The photographs, in no particular order:

Thanks for looking.
Cheers

Man-O-Man!, that's one awesome-looking extravaganza.

Looks like some fit, young commanders pushing lead there too.

The old, stiff farts in my area would love this – but then we'd be paying for it the next day (or two). ;)

Outstanding terrain and game. Can only imagine the work that went into this.

Very impressive terrain, and I like how the planes are mounted!

Lovely. What a great job, well done.

Excellent stuff.

The buildings are great and there is a ‘feel' of the occasion with that terrain, troops and aircraft.

Best wishes,

Chris.

Great stuff! What rules did you use for that?

That looks great! I was particularly impressed by the frames you use to hold up the C-47s. The Hamilcar gliders are also rather nice and provided in sufficient quantity to give an air of realism (and confusion) to the scene.
