Howdy,

A few photos of my playtest for 'Barrage' next week. Byzantines vs. Sassanids in 6th Century Mesopotamia. The game resulted in a decisive Byzantine Victory. Played using the new, improved Big Battle variant of So Convenient for Hewing.

Photo 1 – The battlelines deployed

Photo 2 – Byzantine cavalry

Photo 3 – Sassanid cavalry

Photo 4 – A Byzantine surprise, a flanking force hidden behind the hill.

Photo 5 – Sassanids push on the Byzantine right

Photo 6 – Surprise on the Sassanid right

Photo 7 – Sunset on the Sassanids, a glorious Byzantine victory!

The Byzantine surprise was decisive, suddenly where the Sassanids thought they outnumbered the Byzantines --- there were two of them.

I'm looking forward to ‘Barrage' next week. My game is scheduled for 10am on Saturday (9/23).

Ponder on,

JAS

Cool battle. Since both empires were highly literate, would they still be Dark Ages? Sorry for the nit-picking. I understand that the period is really from the fall of the Western Roman Empire until the Norman Conquest.
