For your hobby materials, do you need more storage space?

robert piepenbrink Supporting Member of TMP16 Sep 2023 5:20 p.m. PST

No, I need less stuff.

The Nigerian Lead Minister16 Sep 2023 5:21 p.m. PST

But of course! Always need more space, not that I'm getting any.

Of course.

Actually, I need different storage space. I need 10' x 2' x 8' of miniature & terrain storage space, 6' of desk space with overhead storage for paints, brushes, files and suchlike, about 4' of bins for the larger hills and two book cases covering about 8' of wall for directly wargame-related books. These would form a L with the rest of the room being a table of variable size and shape.

I have more space than that, but I don't have a room like that. Maybe someday, but probably not.

Parkinson's Law of Miniatures is appropriate here:

"Your collection expands to fill the space available for storage"

As was noted people need less stuff not more storage

Yes – although the first response on this thread is the real answer.

Definitely!

Tacitus17 Sep 2023 7:50 a.m. PST

I need more desk surface

14Bore17 Sep 2023 8:34 a.m. PST

Desk could be less cluttered, saw a paint rack Napoleonic Wargammer on YouTube had and thought to make one

blacksmith17 Sep 2023 8:43 a.m. PST

Since the beginning.

Andrew Walters17 Sep 2023 8:44 a.m. PST

That is literally what I need most.

Not going to get it, so I need to figure out how to have less stuff. Sadly the trend is in the opposite direction.

Need doesn't really equate to hobby anything.

I think I'm with Robert Piepenbrink on this one.

Striker17 Sep 2023 10:11 p.m. PST

I don't need more storage but to get through what I already have.

advocate Supporting Member of TMP18 Sep 2023 4:52 a.m. PST

I could use it, for sure. Less stuff is another, if harder, route to take.

I have recently determined and begun a change to 10mm. All 28mm going out for sale or donation. Storage space is an important topic on my house and the She Who Must Be Obeyed supports the change financially and pragmatically. It has had a positive effect to operations and opening up space that we both felt needed to be aired out and the load lightened. If any of this makes sense.
