I'm talking purchased unpainted and still in production. (Out of print minis can be crazy expensive. That might be another question)

I'm curious what it was. You don't have to say a price. (Unless you want to)

For me it the GW Mumakil.

A 1:100 scale Ratte tank from Forged in Battle – 125 GBP

I've got the Ratte also and that may win. For scenery I have some Grand Manner buildings that weren't cheap. I don't do GW stuff or big fantasy models so no outliers there.

I am pretty sure the most expensive single figure I own within those parameters is less than 10 bucks.

How do you account for elephants or chariots and crew? Is that one figure or, say, 5 or 6 figures?

Is this really a poll topic? Won't the most expensive figure in my collection mostly be different from just about everyone else? And the same for everyone else.

I'm not actually sure what it is – probably a big Reaper Bones Dragon.

I'd say it was 1 figure, all up. None of the bits – elephant, howdah, mahout, fighting crew – are going to get much use separately (maybe the elephant!)

A 54 mm sculpted figure of Baron Larrey, Napoleon's chief surgeon, given to me by my parents when I graduated med school – valued at about $1,000 USD CDN

Might be the Imperial Assault Carrier for X-Wing, assuming it's still made.
Another possibility is the WWI Handley Page Bomber for Wings of Glory.

Otherwise I don't really buy miniatures in singles, but in quantity, and I'm not a painter/collector type, so my stuff is all for the tabletop, and as cheap as I can find it. I'm also not a min/max "gotta have the best" power gamer, so I don't go for that expensive overkill figure either.

I have several Epic ships from X-Wing

I have lots of expensive 75mm & 90mm figures when I still painted large scale Napoleonic figures, but I doubt they are still being produced. But lately a 15mm bergepanther for FOW still in the blister, that I needed for the Battlegroup rules, since it stopped being produced in 2008, it cost me $45. USD. But worth every penny I paid for it.

I'm with 20th Maine, you failed to put your question in the form of a poll.

I remember the Land Ironclad from AQotMF was around 120 new. Shudder to think what it would sell for now….

a couple of 54mm figures (under 25$) – most everything else is 15mm or plastic 1/72 or 1/32

A "Giant in Miniature" where I wound up with their minimum postage? Might be an SF figure from Etsy on the same deal--not the figure price, but the postage, kills. But not much point in ordering figures I don't want to reduce the unit cost.

I bought a resin dragon from a small company at a show a few years ago which was £30.00 GBP I spent about two hours wandering around the show weighing up whether I should spend that much on one figure. I am very tight where hobby spend is concerned!

OTOH a friend of mine collects Forge World Imperial knights. I shudder to think how much his collection has cost.

I was really taken with Meirce Miniatures at a show, until I saw the prices.

They may be very reasonable prices, but I couldn't justify £60.00 GBP-£100 per figure….probably to just sit in the cupboard and never get painted. If I was a better/faster painter then I might have made a different decision!

Is this really a poll topic? Won't the most expensive figure in my collection mostly be different from just about everyone else? And the same for everyone else.

I would expect this to be the case.

You could make a poll about how expensive was the priciest model in your collection, and then give price ranges (e.g. under 10 monetary units, 10-19, 20-29, 30+) but the OP specifically stated that "You don't have to say a price".

Another poll type could be to determine which category the most expensive figure belongs, for example:

- individual infantryman
- individual cavalryman
- historical chariot
- historical elephant
- historical ground vehicle or aircraft
- fantasy monster
- SF vehicle, aircraft or spacecraft

~$300

I have some Raging Heroes figures that I got on double-discount, which makes them about $6 USD-7 each. I've paid similar for some action figures that are now gaming minis … like two McFArlane 40K minis (a Necron and a 'Nid).

Ah … actually, Hasslefree Minis had a sculpting context a few years ago (probably still having them). I paid for a dollie that was the base for the context, then I paid to get castings of the thing I sculpted (as well as some of the others … like the winners).

So that one cost one dollie, one casting, some greenstuff, several hours, and a lot of swear words.

Form of a poll. What is the most you have paid for a single model for gaming purposes that was not just a collectible.
