I'm looking to commission a large French Napoleonic army, probably 800-1,000 infantry and 200 cavalry.

Can anyone please recommend a UK painter?

Thanks

Paul

Good luck. My experience is that people will paint 15's for money, but 6's only for love.

I've painted a few armies for good chums in 6mm. It's easy money.

There is bigger profit in painting 28mm for good chums.

Have you tried painting some? Small figures like these can be very forgiving. For example, with a black wash to get in all the nooks and crannies you can then just pick out highlights.
I am a horribly slow painter but have knocked plenty of 6mil figures e.g. cica. 1800 infantry in my 1:10 version of Reille's II Corps at Quatre Bras (backed up by a 1:10 figure ratio of Kellerman's Corps – yes I know it wasn't all there but…).
My figures are all Heroics and Ros which IMO have less detail (so I hink are easier to paint) but are better proportioned.

I appreciate 6mm is not dificult to paint, but I really don't have the time, much skill, or – to be honest – any great inclination to do it myself. I want to get large armies on the table quickly. If I was very interested in the figure painting side of the hobby, I think I'd pick a larger scale :)

Anyone used Robert Jackson of Liverpool, who advertises on Ebay?

Thanks

One of my pals just sprays the French blue and the British red. It actually looks quite good.

Pendraken miniatures recommend some painters for smaller scales.

I havent used any of them but he seems to think they do a very nice job.

The first painter seems to definitely paint 6mm

I have used Mr. Jackson twice before and was very satisfied. If you send him a message he will quote you for exactly what you want done. He paints Baccus and he will procure the figures for you if you like.

I have always considered 6mm painting to be a bit of a speciality of mine! I'm not touting for work as I'm winding down and have a full diary into 2024 but I do have lots of example photos on this link should you care to take a look?

Cheers,
Lee (Advance the Colours).
