After finding myself in McAllen, Texas unexpectedly, I decided to visit the sites of the first two battles of the Mexican American War: link

It is a fairly small visitor center but I was pleasantly surprised to see a small display filled with 15mm miniatures and Buck Surdu's Santa Anna Rules! Can anyone figure out the manufacturers of these figures? More pictures on my blog linked above. Thanks for taking the time to check it out.

Musket Miniatures?

79thPA, I think some might be Musket. It's been about 2 decades since I had figures from that range. I think I saw some of the Freicorps mounted in there as well. All of those old sculpts brought back memories of projects from years before.

Thanks for a very nice account of your visit. Even though I live in central Texas, it's unlikely I'll ever make it down that far south. There is also the nearby battlefield of Palmetto Ranch, reportedly the last battle of the Civil War, so, who knows? Perhaps someday if my "used-by date doesn't expire first.

Probably a mix of figs, lloks like Musket and Minifig are represented, may be some Frontier as well. Sounds like my collection adding in some freiKorps as well. Planning on running Palo Alto next year at a local con. Probably Resaca De Las Palmas the year after. I have red a bit, and I'm really looking forward to gaming the period. Rich Hasenauer has a real love of Taylor's campaign and has some great F&F scenarios put together for it. I am looking forward to getting down there in the next 2-3 years. Kansas isn't that far away.

Thanks for sharing. I keep toying with doing this period but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Maybe soon. :)

Good eye, 79thPA. Some of those figures are Musket Miniature figures that I traded Charles Haecker for a copy of his Thunder of Cannon archaeological survey of Palo Alto. I sent him some painted and unpainted figures. I'm glad they are on display. He may have added other manufacturer figures, too.
You can get his book and an expanded book on Palo Alto on Amazon.
