Correct me if I am wrong, but this sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. link This thing will be in port/dry dock a lot, or at the bottom of the sea. Does the NK navy have the ability to operate this sub? I wonder how many Russian technical advisors it has on board? |

And apparently it's too noisy to do its job. The Drive: link |

Probably more of a threat to her own crew than to anyone else, but you can't take any chances. If nothing else, this will tie up one of our SSNs. |

I think the first time it submerges in international waters we put a torpedo into it and silently sail away. It's the only way to be sure. |

It can be as noisy as it wants, I bet it is a suicide platform to deliver nukes. First minute of the next war it launches its payload and is done, mission accomplished. |

Good point Dragon. But as I and others have posted, etc. Un is a media . If he is not in the headlines he comes up with a reason. His sub is "sub" standard it appears. More saber rattling with a short saber. In many cases for is people. Those that are not starving to death, living in horrible conditions, not to mention those that are in Gulags/Concentration Camps. Which rivals anything the Nazis did. |

NK is sucking up to Russia, maybe Putin will give him a sub and training and maintenance in exchange for a few million 122 mm artillery projectiles? Mike Bunkermeister Creek |

Looking at this boat is like being in a time warp. I like the pic of him joyriding, such a fun-loving guy. We can hear this thing coming before it leaves the dock. |

I'm with Choctaw. Single ping to distance then sink that sum bitch! |

I doubt that anyone is going to sink the submarine, like with a torpedo or something. It's much more likely that a tragic accident will occur. |

I just hope nobody dies. I fear it will be like the CSS Hunley all over again. China went through that, too. |

If that happens they will never tell anyone. |

At this point I don't see Un's sub as being much of a threat. Compared to their nukes. But I'm sure Intel will keep an eye on both and more. I just hope nobody dies. Well Un and his GENs believe much of their troops[sub crew] are pretty much expendable. Based on my 22 months in the ROK with the 2ID along with 2 tours on the DMZ, '84-'85. The North is indoctrinated to hate the US. During the Korean War, '50-'53, the US/UN destroyed pretty much all of their infrastructure. Killed many of them. We had no illusions about if things got really hot, we'd have to kill a lot of them and very often. From our conversations there we didn't care how many we may have to kill. Just so it was in very high numbers. As they felt the same about us. But we followed the GCs … they would not. |
