So when Empress came out with 28mm modern Chinese Peoples Liquidation Army I bought a bundle. Last year I finally got down to sorting them out into squads and platoons to see what i had and made a touch up buy to complete an infantry company and some support troops for it.

But I didn't stop there,,,.

Lurking all over some Chinese mass market websites, Aliezpress,,, I came across masses of diecasts and toys and went inot university exam mode to determine their lengths and widths and such.

Needless to say I mechanized them with these plastic toys that are perfect scale 6x6 wheeled APCs. WZ551
They had merely a flat back deck so I found suitable turrets, M113 ACAV bucket turrets with the more modern version of the 12.7mm hmg.

Since they were only about four bucks a piece I got a complete infantry company of fourtteen of them.

But,,, I didn't stop there,,,.

I then realized that the Australian M113AS4 turret would make a really good proxy for the one man turret with the 30mm cannon on the same vehicle hull as an IFV. So, I bought another compnay worth of fourteen of them.

But I didn't stop there either,,,.

I have now found more diecast where the turret can be mounted on top to provide the same hull with the wheeled fire support vehicle, the PTL02, so I bought a four car platoon of them.

So with one infantry company of figures, I can now mechanize them with either the wheeled APC with the 12.7mm HMGs, Type 92APC or A, or the wheeled IFVs with the one man 30mm turret, Type 92B, and still have a platoon of four fire support cars as well.PTL02
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WZ-551

But I didn't stop there,,,either,,,.

I found some diecast ZBD05s.

These are amphibious infantry fighting vehicles. Like bigger BMP3s. So now I can mechanize a platoon woth as either the heavier side of a marine brigade or as an army amphibious brigade. Two platoons of these.

But I didn't stop there either,,,,.

I recently found diecast 8x8 wheeled vehicles with 30mm turrets as wheeled IFVs, ZBD08s.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Type_08
These are the latest nasty variation of the current kit. So I two platoons of these.
One platoon keeps their 30mm turrets. The other platoon swaps turrets with the second amphibious ZBD05 platoon giving them each an IFVs platoon with 30mm IFV turrets and a second platoon with fire support 105mm turrets.(ZTL11)https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Type_05_amphibious_fighting_vehicle

So, can a guy have enough Chi Comm Troops or support.

The later ZBD05s and ZBD08s cost me more around twenty bucks a piece.

If you think I need to up my meds, you are probably correct.
I am also the guy who blackmailed Phil at 1st Corp many years ago to start the ball rolling by making Korean War British and Chinese in 28mm, and I have well over a one to one battalion of Chinese volunteers.

I like having been able to find such things and even to convert some others into such an incredible force. I really enjoy the creative side seeing things and of figuring out what will work and seeing through the hobby side of actually assembling them and putting them together.

Anyone who decides to play ultra moderns against me, thinking the Chinese will be a push over, will defecate bricks when they see the choices of support and firepower these guys can muster.

,,,and I haven't even started looking into diecast attack and transport helicopters,,, but my wallet screams at me to darned well stop already,,,.

I wonder if I can blackmail the folks at Empress to make a pack or two with the new Qbz191 rifles?
I actually have a squad worth of figures with QBZ03 rifles from various one offs in other packs that will do in a pinch.

I thought you were talking about Chinese Take-out !🍚🍣🍱

Striker08 Sep 2023 11:46 a.m. PST

Do you recall any of the brand names? I'm always on the search for toys to fill out my moderns and sci-fi. I've had hit/miss luck with actual size vs what is shown on sites.

I hope it is ok with Bill to link these.

First one is the 6x6 APC hull WZ551.
Scroll around and clock the choices in the little picks until you get the 6x6 wheeled apc. Scales perfectly for 28mm gaming. Slap an ACAV bucket turret with a KPV HMG and good to go. Can't beat the price!

Next is the ZBD05 amphibious direct fire support vehicle.
Diecast and at around twenty bucks.
link
Either marine brigades heavy units or the army amphibious brigades anyone?
Measurements again close enough to 1/56 scale to use with 28mm without a problem.

troopwo Supporting Member of TMP08 Sep 2023 12:05 p.m. PST

I am waiting all giddy on these to come in.
ZBD08 wheeled 8x8 IFVs. Again diecast and right scale and length to measure for 28mms.
link
I will swapp turrets between these and the amphibious vehicles so each have IFVs and direct fire vehicles too.

troopwo Supporting Member of TMP08 Sep 2023 12:22 p.m. PST

These guys are actually just for parts.
The hull is a bit too big, bug the turrets make good options for direct fire support vehicles for the 6x6 apc turning them into PTL02s.
link

I haven't even gotten started on the options for Type 99 tanks.
The first two are plastic and are far better than these campy pictures let on.
link
link
The last one is alloy metal and a real beauty and scales out to fit well.
link

Of course the guys that do resin models and 3D printing will now want my head on a platter.

Interesting. I'd picked up a few of the APCs and lorries for a Neo-Sov Xenos Rampant army. The are nice models and at least I now know what they are supposed to be!

Too bad you don't play 6mm … GHQ has everything you'd need I'd think …

Shelf space is now a life and death struggle.

Thanks troops. I'm always on the lookout for post 45 vehicles and the states scales can be way off. Gotten some good finds but also had a few clunkers for the donate pile.
