Sometime in the late '80s I checked a book out of my local library that I really enjoyed, but I can't remember the name. As I recall it followed a British platoon or company in an attack. Maybe in Normandy. The focus was very narrow in that it only followed the unit in this one action. It might have been a fictitious unit and was written only as an example of a typical small unit action or might have been a history. The unusual thing is that I live in the US and British World War II books weren't that common in a smaller library.

Anyway, does this ring a bell with anyone? Was it just a dream from a cola infused adolescent? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

Sounds very much like ‘Battle' by Kenneth Macksey – see link:
auction
It's a classic and got me into small scale gaming in Normandy.

I think that's it. I didn't realize he also wrote First Clash. That pushed me over the edge in modern micro-armor.

Thanks

My copy is "Anatomy of a Battle".

Same book.
