I am currently hurting my head trying to find a combination of 28mm hard plastic kits to create the 28mm French Gendarme Lancers in Spain. I seem to be lacking a torso with long coat tails that are "a la chasseur" style. The Perry Dragoons appear too short, but it could just be me. Any recommendations?

That is a problem. The horses should be simple enough as there are plenty with the full shabraque (e.g. Victrix Chasseurs a Cheval de la Garde). The only 28mm figures I can find with the the correct coat and legwear are from Brigade games in the USA. They are metal but the right poses will allow a sabre to be removed and a lance added.

Not fully plastic and a bit expensive though…

Those long tailed coats are very hard to find for cavalry. I used those Brigade Games figures to make Chasseurs a Cheval of the Garde Imperiale, by adding a Greenstuff colpack. They are sculpted by Paul Hicks and as good as you would expect from him

Warlord do plastic Dragoons and grenadiers of the Guard with longer tailed coats, but would need MUCH kitbashing!

Look at Essex French cavalry. They have chasseurs with the long coat and shako. The standard bearer figure has an open hand, perfect for a lance. I'm thinking easy conversion.

A belated thanks to all for inputs and excellent suggestions. I located a couple of water color plates of Gendarme Lancer troopers in Kinski coats. I have decided to kit bash the Officer and Trumpeter from Warlord Line Chasseurs a Cheval in "a la chasseur" long coat tails, and do the remaining Gendarme Lancer troopers in kinski coats, using Perry Chasseurs a Cheval and Perry Russian Lancer lance and arm sprues. I get the added benefit of sheathed swords with the same sprues. It is likely that the Gendarme Lancers were not sporting long tailed a la chasseur coats out on campaign engaged in their brutal fighting with the numerous Spanish guerillas. I nearly always go with an on-campaign look to my units, especially in the Peninsula.
Many thanks all!

Has Victrix released their Early french Dragoons in long-tailed coat? Except for their waistcoat they are close to the Gendarme Lancers. Pointed shabraque horses from their Lancers or Chasseur sets. Shako ?
